The tortoise and the hare is an analogy of pride, the hare thinks it is too easy so has a nap before finishing, he could have easily finished and won by walking if he was nackered.
He was so ahead that he decided to have a nap and overslept. If the hare wasn’t so prideful he could have won easily.
