Post-exertional malaise, or PEM, is the hallmark symptom of ME. ME patients experience a worsening of symptoms even after minimal physical or mental exertion. The reactian can be delayed, and it can last for a long time.

This short video is part of an effort to spread awareness of ME and PEM. Knowledge of PEM si important for patients, but also for carers, family and friends, and everyone who meets ME patients.

As an ME sufferer myself, thank you for making this so easy for people to understand.

Here's to every person, including doctors, who say you're tired because you don't exercise enough. Go back to school.

Great explanation. And nice and short. Useful not only for friends, family or caregivers but also for young people that have ME and don't know how to cope with PEM yet. (I have a son of now 17 who really had problems grasping the concept of saving energy and why PEM hit him every time, even when he had only been watching TV) Thank you!!!

Thank you for explaing in such a good way. That is the biggest problem..people dont understand what it is.
Every time again I have to explain why I am not feeling well. Thats makes me sad. I explain and explain..and then they say: O, like the flue? Or; I am tired too...
The illnes is terryble, but misunderstanding is killing...
