1 Year Cycling Transformation | How Cycling Changed My Body *HELPFUL TIPS YOU NEED TO KNOW*

In this video, I'll share my cycling transformation and how cycling has changed my body. I'll look at how I transitioned from weight training into cycling and how I went from riding 6 miles to 131 miles.

Many of us use cycling as a tool to lose weight, and I'll tell you something for free, it's a damn good tool. I'll cover my experience and how cycling changes your body. On the flip side, I'll also look at how to adapt to these changes.

Cycling has many positive effects on the body and as your body changes, you need to adapt accordingly. I'll discuss my biggest takeaways from my experience in the saddle and what I experienced over my 1-year cycling journey.

I wouldn't say that cycling saved me, I'd say that cycling gave me a new lease of life and a new way to reach better fitness and wellbeing.

When I was 18 years old I got my first full time job as a professional bike messenger. I did this for 8 years. All year round, in all weather. No one ever told me I was wasting my life at this job, but let's face it, it's not a job that will take you anywhere career wise. I'm now 50 years old and still riding between 5000km-8000km a year. I've come to realise that maybe I wasn't wasting my time at that job but actually quite the opposite. The level of fitness I have achieved through riding my bike throughout my life is amazing. I feel different. I feel hot wired or someting. It's difficult to expalin unless you're a full time athlete. Without realizig it at 18 years old I have built a fortress against diseases and general illnesses. I'm 50 years old now but I feel 30. I have no wrinkles, full head of hair and my mental state kicks ass. If I could live my life over again I wouldn't change a thing. Too many people put money first before anything else. I'm not saying that everyone should ride a bike like an insane maniac for 30 years but it's crucial to exercise. This sedintary lifestyle I see the majority of the poluation living is dangerous. I encourage all of my friends and family members who are young to start now. Build that fortress.

This will be a really informative video to many for sure. I find now after 9 years of regular cycling mental health really suffers when I don't ride. I think the mix of endorphins and benefits of being in the open air really benefits. Great job 👍

I can completely relate to your journey, started cycling last summer just had a hybrid then upgraded to a road bike in April and then joined some group rides and soon I was hooked went from 5 to 50+ miles in a few months....agree with winter riding, it's tough

Great story! Truly inspirational and, amazingly, mirroring my own experiences. Know exactly the conflict of going to the gym and cycling. I was a reasonably competent cyclist until I fractured a shoulder last September at the gym. 6 months of laying about and an extra four inches around my belly is really making it hard to pull back to where I was.

Your story is similar to mine. I have always enjoyed cycling, played football for most of my life and trained in the gym for years. I am now in my 50's and have never enjoyed cycling more. I think cycling is the most sustainable of all of these activities for me.

Thank you so much to share your experience. After a bad car crash I stopped any kind of sport's activities. After watching your video, I 'm so exiting to restart as soon as possible cycling even my injuries and my 64 y.o. Keep enjoying your ride and ride safe

I love the honesty and openness. I’m coming back to cycling after a loooong break, and I can relate to what you say. Thank you 🙏

Great video man. I like how you discuss physical and mental health as reflections of one's overall fitness. Also liked your comment regarding focus on power-to-weight ratio rather than obsessing with getting lighter. Many thanks!

Awesome video. I’m 36, skinny fat but stay in the gym... I just had the urge to start spin. I did my first class the day before yesterday and I’m hooked. I got an amazing high after lol. My booty is a bit sore from the seat tho... I’ll bring a padded seat cover next time. Like you I only lift weights because I’m trying to put on mass... it’s difficult to try to eat to build that muscle yet try to stay lean. I always have trouble in the mid section. But anyway... I’m going to listen to my body and do some cycling. I definitely will need to figure out a way to keep leg and back day in the gym tho. Cheers to new fitness experiments!

Very interesting, this video just appeared on my feed randomly and was very informative/inspirational for "newbies". I'd suggest investing in a Smart Trainer & Zwift, that'll give you more variation and motivation with structured training sessions, racing or just to ride.

You can ride in the winter just as much as in the summer. You will not be able to ride your road bike, but a mountain or fat tire bike will be ok. In fact. Those bikes are better for leg strength development due to the heavier weight, uneven terrain, and thick tire contact patch. Also, it teaches you more about control

Very good I am just like you using the gym but since last year coronavirus lock down I start cycling and I am really enjoying it, and by watching your youtube give me the spirit to cycling more. Thank you again for your experience you have shared with us.

It's mad I just moved out of Romford, been there my whole life... and I discovered your channel once I'd moved to the midlands😂 sods law being local like that.

I was wondering, that ride to South london, is that something you'd planned the stops/route on? Or did you just get out there on a whim and see where you ended up?

Mine is a similar in so many ways but after 2200 km cycling without losing weight i focused on intermittent fasting plus keto diet dropping over 8 kg in 2 months while cycling even more. Bought my Specialized Sirrus Elite Carbon Fiber bike only a few months before the pandemic hit us. I can even run further and faster beyond 6 km alternate days and do 20 chin-ups which was impossible before.
Keep in mind that aging takes a toll and i am now, at age 69, 165 cm tall but was once 152 cm tall.

Great video man, I’ve recently transitioned from gym focused/casual rider to road cycling too. Absolutely love it. Any plans on a bike technology focused vid coming soon? E.g pros of bike computers etc. Loving the vids 👍🏻

As much as I do love my hybrid for its durability and reliability, buying my entry level road bike was just as good of an investment. I’m just a casual rider, don’t even use clips, but even now I notice how much faster and efficient the road bike is, barring one very steep climb that always winds me (just gotta keep doing it, I suppose). Oh and since it’s a budget road bike, I don’t feel too bad thrashing it like my hybrid (with some limits).
