Ancient Aliens! Atlantis! What is Pseudoarchaeology? (with Atun-Shei Films and World of Antiquity)

I always found it fascinating that there are millions of people out there who fervently believe that many of the great ancient civilizations and wonders of our world were built not by our human ancestors, but extraterrestrials or supermen from the lost continent of Atlantis. Given the plethora of archaeological and scientific evidence that debunks such claims, I always wondered how people believe in such things. This is what I and my fellow YouTubers at @AtunSheiFilms and @WorldofAntiquity explore in a trilogy of videos that take a look not only at alternative, or pseudoarchaeology, but also its genesis, including one of the earliest men behind it all, Ignatius L. Donnelly.

The low quality programming that passes for “history” nowadays on the history channel is a real problem. They lend a lot of credibility to utter nonsense. The History Channel really sold out at some point and followed the ratings/cash over the truth.

It really grinds my gears that people are 100% willing to ignore the accomplishments and origins of great civilizations. I've done so much research into the people of the Fertile Cresent, and the things they did is so worth talking about, way more than Ancient Aliens

I'm glad you tackled this topic. I'm a lover of Mesopotamian Mythology, but every time I try to search for sources online, all I get is Ancient Aliens hogwash, and this certain political pundit who thinks that lobsters have a weird social hierarchy that somehow applies to humans...

The worst offender is See U in History because they're literally a verified channel.

And I imagine if Mesopotamian Pagans were still around today, they'd be ashamed at how people have twisted their mythology. Like, I don't know entirely about how Mesopotamian mythology came to be, but I feel like "They worshiped the stars, sun and moon because they're time keeping devices that matter for harvests" more plausible than "They were aliens".

one time one of my high school art teachers told me egypt was helped by aliens and he said the fact that osiris' face is green proved that. so i asked him, how do you know aliens have green faces? and he replied by saying "have you never seen a movie?" at that moment i stopped arguing as i knew it was going nowhere

Man I just want to say thanks for this. There is so much of this pseudo crap out there and relatively very little to counteract it. I have a loved one who has gone off the deep end with this and is now trying to create free energy pyramid devices and it’s just gotten out of hand so while I doubt she will ever watch this I just wanted to say thanks

realized how thick the ancient aliens types were after seeing a clip years ago. Egyptologist Zahi Hawass brought in an intern to a builders chamber inside the pyramid showing the literal signatures of the builders and the intern still asserted aliens built the pyramids.

I made the mistake of watching Ancient Aliens (a few times). As I watched, I realized they were stating obvious errors as facts. I am only an arm chair historian, and if I could see the errors, I could not believe everyone else didn't see them. I watched a second show to see if the first show just had bad data, but they were not all like that. The 2nd one was worse.
