How long does it take for a blood clot in the lung to dissolve? - Dr. Shivaraj A L

Показать описание
There are so many causes for pulmonary embolism; if the patient is having any malignant condition or having any hyper coagulant status or if the patient is post op. If the patient has undergone a surgery and for long days he has been bed ridden there will be clot formation in the lower limbs. This clot is moved to the lungs and is called as pulmonary embolism. If the patient had a prolonged surgery or the patient is not mobilised immediately post op, all these things are the complications leading to pulmonary embolism. The clot will be dissolved in 3 to 6 months if you give an anticoagulant medication. In some patients there are chances of recurrence. In 90% cases by 3 to 4 months the clot will be resolved. If the clot is not resolved you can remove the clot by doing the surgery called andarterectomy.

Educational and thank you but Doctor you need to practice your timing when you correspond in English. Doctor you need to slow down your pronouncement of the single word and the timing of stringing the words together. Overall a good job if explaining the evidence. I am a learner with the subject as my partner is in hospital from thrombosis and pulmonary clots.

3-6 months to dissolve clot with medication? seems like a very tough medical issue. what are the other side effects the patients need to suffer?
is there any alternative therapy available?
how do patients know if the clots gone fully?

I've had DVT in one leg over two years, have been on Eliquis for 9 months but condition is still the same. Blood thinners
do not dissolve blood clots. In fact, some recent over exertion caused new clots to form, even while taking blood thinner.
the truth is GP's don't know a damned thing of how to treat clots, and they are remiss to refer a patient to hematologist
or vascular surgeon. I can't even get an appointment to see GP for five months out. American healthcare really sucks.
