Why in the first example you made also for negative slope but in the second you only took one time

ok so like i said im taking geometry and im bad at it and right now we are doing one of the easiest thing cause i did it in algebra which i had A but i can't seem to get the slope they are giving me from easy simple equations, To points they give me a line Example.
Write an equation of a line Through the point (3, 4) With a Y, intercept of -2.
if you would help me not with this example but with lost i would love that
