Graphing Lines in Standard Form (ax + by = c)

Now that we have slope-intercept form under our belt, let's learn the standard form for the equation of a line. This one makes it easy to find the intercepts, and also graph the line very quickly, so it has its advantages! We will also learn how to convert between the two forms.

This always confused me because I mistakenly thought that the "b" in the slope - intercept form y = mx + b somehow had to relate to the "b" of (by) in the Standard form equation ax+by = c. And it doesn't!

I haven't done math in years. My son just graduated hs and I just picked up my AA degree again from a community college. Anyways I want to transfer my credits to a bigger college and work on my bs for business possibly but I'm laughing at myself to take a statistics class for next fall and I haven't done math for lol.
