BBQ vs brake pad for gear oil removal

2007 GMC Sierra. 170,000 miles. Original brake pads. I had an axle seal fail and I didn't notice until the oil was all over my wheel. By then the brakes were soaked with rear end gear oil. I replaced the seal and cleaned the pads with brake cleaner and re-installed the pads until I knew that I did the seal correctly. I had some hard braking experiences and realized the pads were not free of oil. The good side locked up one time, and another time some corrective steering was needed to keep the truck straight. Before I just replaced them, I tried to bake the oil out with my BBQ. I cranked up the BBQ to "Sear" and cooked them for about 60 min. at 500-550*F. Half way through I wiped the oil off the pad and cooked it until it wasn't smoking. Feels like it worked. I haven't had any high speed emergency braking scenarios yet to fully test them, but heavy braking feels stable and straight.

What do you typically do for a side dish to compliment the pads???
