These knobs have been dimming dash lights on all kinds of makes and models of vehicles for decades. Gotta love these “life hacks”.

Its not a secret, its on page 99 of the owners manual in the globe box.

No so much a secret. The old school design of that odometer change knob was standard back in the day on all cars. This was how I changed the brightness of my dash in my 1973 Chevy Nova.

I'm more impressed by the fact that you need a key to start the truck.

My Toyota is a 2010. Back then they had the sense to just have clearly marked separate control for dash brightness. Easy to find and operate, even while driving. Old school simplicity.

That's on the 3rd gen Toyotas. The 2nd gen (2005-2014?) has a separate knob to do that. On the second gen you use that to reset the 'Maintenance Required'/5, 000 mile oil change light too, just hold it in as you turn the ignition key to start the vehicle.

Every video that has a Tacoma in it always has a empty tank. I can relate I’m always empty on my truck

My 2012 Honda Accord LX has that ability and it dims every single light up display. It's very nice at night when cruise control is set you can just dim.

You can also move it around like a joystick to turn your front wheels!

Yeah vehicles have been doing that for decades now. Thanks, professor👍. Make sure and make a video about the secret glove box light next.

Everyone should read their owner’s manuals. There are thousands of secrets hidden within! Not many people know, but in the glove box, on the passenger side, there’s usually a treasure trove of tips and tricks about your vehicle. It also tells you things like how to change a flat tire, recommended maintenance and care techniques, and there’s even a map that tells you what all of the jumbled stuff under your hood is! 10/10 must read

So you’re telling me that little door on the side panel of my truck with some type of cap is where the gas goes?? I feel so dumb. Everytime my truck stops working I trade it. Never knew you could fill it up with gas yourself🤯

Toyota technician for two years, never knew this lol

Mine has separate "wheel" for brightness

I knew that and prefer to keep it at low setting. When I had the 2004 Tacoma with bright setting the bulb burns out faster because it was incandescent bulbs.

That’s interesting, i see the newer Toyotas have done cost cutting with the feature to use one dash knob instead of two. My 2016 Camry has this button just for odometer, and another one on the left that is only for brightness.

It's a secret. Now EVERYBODY knows the secret that was never a secret.
LOL!

Born yesterday so I read the manual and by happenstance I learned this new trick.
