I think you may have quenched your disc. When you heat metal up and then quickly make it cold (water) they harden and break.

I once went down a insanely steep and long road hill on my mtb and the disks were smoking at the bottom my dumb ass had to touch them out of curiosity and I'm pretty sure that disk still has my finger print on it to this day
