It is impossible to replace the home button assembly and preserve Touch ID function. The sensor is designed to be secure and it is uniquely paired with each CPU. so if your replacing a screen make sure you keep the home button .

Thank you; very helpful! Just be sure to keep a hand above the screen when prying it open so that it doesn't fly up and break the home button strip.
I didn't need heat to remove my home button; it came up easily with a fingernail.

I have an iPhone 5 and do not like the style of the button and was wondering if I could buy one of these replacement 5s buttons with a flex cable to replace it, if I take it into Apple will they be willing to do it for me?

I get a touch ID failed error message every time I transfer over the home button to a new screen assembly. The bracket is in the correct position, but yet the fingerprint sensor won't activate. The home button will work, but not the touch feature. What could be the problem?

if i have an iphone 5s black, and i want to changed to white.. the touch ID can change the color too??

finger scanner will not work unless it's the original one as the logic board has got a code that only works with the orignal touch ID with a chip. You'd need to send it to apple so they can fix it. Maybe they can made i new chip with the same code i really do not know. With a new Home button just know touch ID will not work that's normal

TouchID can only work with original Fingerprintsensor-circuit, it is tethered to the A7-processor. If you change the homebutton inclusiv flexcable, the TouchID cannot work anymore. Say thank you Apple, making the Iphone securesecuresecure, but you cannot repair it :'(
The encrypted information can only be accessed by 1 original (binded) chip which can communicate with the A7 processor, it should be soldered right on the flexcable, I guess.

is it posible to take apart sensor from home button? after changing motherboard my tuch id doesen't work anymore is this because motherboard and tuch id aren't from the same phone than originaly? thanks for help =)
