The Smartest thing was make Resolve FREE. Allow people to learn, then if they become professionals time to pay up. This will help increase the userbase

Though there are probably a smaller subset of people who'll appreciate this, Davinci Resolve also runs on Linux. For someone like me who uses various machines across Windows, Mac, and Linux, this was a big plus.

I've edited in Premiere for years and have switched to Resolve. My only regret is that I didn't switch sooner.

I've been using Final Cut Pro X for about 4 years. I just switched to Devinci Resolve and can't understand why I ever wasted my time with FCPX. You can BARELY grade properly in FCPX. Devinci feels professional and extremely fluid. I would highly recommend everyone give Devinci Resolve an honest try if not switch over. Great video guys, very informative.

I’ve been on Premiere for awhile now, but now I want to give DaVinci a try

Your comments clearly show you dont know the power of Resolve yet. The built in Fusion page is every bit as powerful as AE. And the node editor is vastly superior when you lay in a lot of 3D effects. And you can adjust the light levels simply on the color page. It is a knob. Nice try though. Keep learning. On effects, OFX and BorisFX are both available in Resolve. Given the price and the power of Resolve AI to get stuff done, Resolve is simpler, you dont need as many toys because what you do have has tons of flex.
FYI folks I was a VFX Pipeline Architect. I have credits on the patent for 1D to 3D conversion, and Animation design credits and Pipeline design on Avatar among many others. Node vs Layers was debated yeaars ago in animation. Ever since the switch to Maya artists in that realm have unanimously preferred nodes. You just cant do paralell work in layers. Cheers.

High-end compositing has always been node-based: Shake, Nuke, Fusion, etc.

4:28 If you want to do the same thing in Resolve you can. Under Effects - Generators there's a solid color fill and you can set it to black and lower the opacity if you're used to that. OR a much simpler option is just lower the opacity of the video clip from the Inspector menu

4:12 . If anyone wanna do this on edit page at Resolve,

1. Go to Effects library and choose solid color and pick black color and place it on top of your clip.
2. Click on the solid color, Go to the effects control in inspector
3. Under the blend mode slider, move the slider to left to reduce opacity.

Same as Premiere. No worries Landon, we know there are many ways to do the same thing.

I'm sure someone else mentioned it, but you don't have as many crashes on Premiere because you're on Mac. On Windows it's an absolute crashfest, it's so unstable. Adobe puts very little effort into it's Windows userbase vs Mac userbase. I've been using Premiere off and on for 20 years, and they still haven't managed to fix it.

It is huge success for Davinch Resolve being compared to the Premier pro recently and it means they are doing very well.

I hated color grading in premiere, so I did that in resolve for years. But I got tired of the workflow with two programs, also premiere crashed on me on regular bases. I switched to resolve completly this year and never looked back. :)

Dynamic Link is great, but if you consider that Davinci packs both Premiere and After Effects in one thing, it's useless.

5:05 you could achieve the same within the editing page of Resolve with layers.

Having used Resolve for basically over 2 years, that ease of use thing tripped me. The text and darkening can be done in the edit page itself EXACTLY the same way it's done in Premiere...

I love Davinci Resolve, it’s simply awesome, and you get the industry standard color grading tools for FREE!!

I've been editing in premiere about 15 years. Tried resolve for a week, goodbye Adobe. Fusion is just amazing, and the node methodology is so easy to learn, tons of info around the web

Switched to Resolve over a year ago after using Premiere Pro for about 4 years, and don't miss it at all.

I just switched to DaVinci and it's just so much better for me. I feel in love with it instantly. It's very intuitive, nodes seem very natural to me.
