M1 Macs: New Premiere Pro Beta vs Davinci Resolve

I tested out the New Premiere Pro Beta that was designed for Apple Silicon! I put it up against Davinci Resolve and it didn't really hold up that well... Maybe it's time we finally learn Davinci Resolve?

I have only used Da vinci for color, but now that you mention this great tips, thank for sharing Ryan. I have used many editing programs. And I see the benefits on all of them. Great great video

3:44 Resolve is also in Beta right now, and far less issues than Premiere. I've also been learning and using Davinci Resolve 17 for the past month or so... zero crashes, zero issues, just some lag but thats 100% because of my computer not the software. I got a feeling Davinci Resolve will dominate the editing space in no time. btw, nice video, straight to the point!

Good video, but for export you have to consider one thing to make a fair compare. When you use the export button in Premiere, you use only the CPU to encode. When you use Render queue, Premiere use Adobe Media encoder and use both GPU and CPU when needed for example color correction since lumetri is GPU accelerated. You will use also the NVENC encoder fonction ( from the GPU) with H264 that speed up the process if you have selected Hardware encoding with H264. Now, for M1, I don't know how it handle all this. To sum up, next time use Adobe media encoder when you make exports to compare with other software.

i need to buy a laptop asap since mine just broke down. i'm used to premiere pro and i've never had a mac in my life. i was leaning towards the macbook pro M1 but now i don't know what to do... i won't be editing in 4K in the near future anyway. so maybe buying the M1 isn't such a bad idea? because by the time I do start with the 4K, there should be updates on premiere in the M1. did you encounter any problems editing in 1080?

Both Resolve and Premiere is in beta atm, so we can conclude Resolve is better.

Also Ryan, if you're new to Resolve make sure you turn that 'Live Save' on and also check if you have the latest studio driver for your GPU.

Thank youRyan for your true for now its Davinci resolve or Final Cut remember reading something that Adobe will need until Summer of this Year, its sad, such a Giant Company, but i have to say that i never liked the licensing plan to a monthly fee per workstation....thats pricey if you have several computers

Adobe Premiere beta does not support working with BRAW files.
