I've found your English lesson very useful and workable I hope it will help me to set a goal for enhancing my terrible English. If you don't mind please let me understand which English I should prefer learning British or American. Sometimes I watch British podcast and sometimes American, so it makes me confused to understand and I am not able to understand of them.

Wow! What a terrific way to start the new year! A question for you Vicky. How to break down my main goal? I want to become bilingual, sound like a native. All ideas, even the oddest, are welcome ;-)

Hi Vicki and Jay! Handy tips indeed :) I have a question though Vicki…. a grammar one in fact. In the dialogue from 3:40 to 4:04, Jay says: “so I can impress my boss” to introduce a purpose. Now, I’ve always taught my learners that the conjunction ‘so’ is used to introduce results, while ‘so that’ is to introduce reasons or purposes. Have I been wrong in teaching them that? Can we use both ‘so’ and ‘so that’ to introduce reasons and purposes….. Please clarify. Thanks Vicki!
