yes, I used to care more about status, fame, 'success', impressing people etc., then i did 80/20 and found over 80% (~87%) of my wellbeing, satisfaction, and pleasure came from my relationship with my mom (2-7% effort) i.e. just talking with her, investing a *bit, saying 'i love you', doing a *little for her... and the other things were a *lot of effort for little payoff next to her awesomeness and how i felt/feel around her (contrary to society/the world: 'fame', 'success', 'world class', etc.) :p

I know the recipe for success. My husband was a motivational speaker in the 80’s & 90’s. He got very sick. I lost my entire compass & became a huge procrastinator. Dear Lord, I am back on it today! He is not going to get well, but I am NOT going to fall into a dark hole. I choose to move forward & live even better!

I've been listening to you for over 20 years now and I just want to say Thank you. Your ability to teach in a concise manner makes you one of the best ever. I love how you are able to take a simple concept, break it down and make it immediately relevant to the student. The why, the what and the how is all there. Once again, THANK YOU!

Thanks, Brian. It was a real treat to listen to what you had to say. I'm, at the age of 44, a first-time business owner. I'm so new into my venture but have been thinking about it for 10 years if I can be honest. I started it 18 months ago and it is the main reason for my getting out of bed. Everything I do, is in some way, related to my business goal and I have achieved so much. I even have a business partner who believed so much in my idea he wanted to be a part of it. I found myself doing a few things you mentioned which makes me feel really good, but definitely a few things I should be doing too. Anyway, great video, and thank you!

I decided a while ago that my most important goals, which I guess is really one, was praying. As you mentioned in a comment, these may be considered action steps. Now it is more a habit than a goal. I am doing more of it than I planned and am happy with my progress. I pray daily and several times a day. Other goals I made can't necessarily be done now, as they involve missions overseas and my health is not up to it. Now working on the languages I'm learning maybe has become my second goal? However, the 80/20 rule seems to apply to this: I don't learn languages everyday anymore but focus on what's most important when I do. I know as a missionary, and one who is being converted into, eventually, a full-time missionary, prayer is my most important activity as it was with Jesus...not Bible-reading, not preaching, not language-learning, but prayer. I will try to keep these goals WHAT I DO ALL THE TIME: Everything else will fit in somewhere. Now I'd like to work on the action-steps to see what prayers I need to pray. Obviously most people think this is a colossal waste of time, but as with great people, I'm not overly concerned about what the "hip" group thinks!

It is funny as i applied it yesterday:
I am famous for my extensive list writing and people make jokes of me. I have to admit, my lists, that I am writing every evening before, are really long. Then the next morning I prioritize the first three tasks. It became a good habit and I could see how much I had crossed of and which tasks would still be unaccomplished. But yesterday I made a slight change:
I picked only one task, the frog, the task that I seemed to have delayed for five days. I skipped my routine and forced myself to do this one thing. It was amazing, that in the early afternoon when I had finished my most important tasks I was relaxed and feeling so satisfied and lucky about my days efforts but I had not crossed off as many tasks as the days before! Although I did not cross off as much done tasks as the days before, I had made more progress and felt more accomplished than the rest of the week. This showed me how important it is to not only plan and list, but also to look for the 20% VIP-Tasks on my list. The crucial point is to be ruthless with the other stuff, that is not as easy. Thank you Brian!

Great video. I've known about and heard much of the 80/20 rule but this makes it simple, clear, and concise. Thank you

Brian, before this video I was aware of the 80/20 rule but was not applying it to my daily activities. For this I have experienced much unnecessary frustration when trying to meet daily and life goals. This video has helped my realize the importance of focusing on the big goals in life rather than the small one. Thanks for sharing Brian!

Hi Brian, a great change in my life was brought about when I read your Eat My Frog book about time management. Even though I couldn't do all those mentioned in it, writing the most important goals on paper and doing the topmost priority ones first has really made good change... Thanks to all your lively talks... Really inspirational...

Hello Brian Tracy! You really inspire me a lot. I've been struggling lately because I was not able to graduate on time. My parents and friends were really disappointed. Because of that I always think that I am a big failure.I felt insecure every time someone will ask me if I have already graduated.

I just come upon your video in YouTube after searching some motivation and goal setting vids. I haven't met you yet but you really empower me. :)

QOTD: I hadn't heard about the 80/20 rule until I watched this video, so I haven't applied it yet. Beginning right now, however, I am applying it and really look forward to the changes in my life. Thank you, Brian!

Nice video! The common mentality of people is that once they finish all the small tasks, they think they can spend the rest of their time and concentrate completely on the important ones. But the truth is, you can never run out of small tasks. There'll always be something that you must do. This is where the 80:20 principle really helps.
