I'd like to see a video speaking to the addicts explaining our perspective. Why we stopped trusting them. Why we couldn't show affection. Why we couldn't be intimate. Why we resented them. Why we were mean and spiteful and heavily stressed. No money, no stability, no time for us.

Why it's not our fault that we were responding to our very difficult, very painful, very toxic life.

Not denying my responsibility in all of this, I know I may have reacted wrong and pushed buttons but there isn't instruction book on how to live the perfect life with an addict and feel safe & loved by their actions.

I just want to understand my perspective so that I can explain it to him or share a video.

Thanks!

I want a video hearing the addict talk about what went through their head when a spouse kicks them out or leaves them.

I went and I finally got clean. My wife and are are currently separated but still married. I only hope that I do what I need to for her. Lossing that will make sure you are ready to leave the addiction. Now that I feel again, I would spend the rest of my life loving her right.

Thank you for this! My husband is in rehab right now and I've been feeling bad because he says I love him conditionally. Now I see that those are my hard boundaries and it's his longing to continue using that's talking. I guess he's right in the sense that I love him conditionally, but it's under the condition that I no longer want to hurt myself loving him. I won't sit there and watch him kill himself.
Thank you so much for this video, I was losing my mind waiting for my appointment with my therapist, needing some sort of clarity.

They don’t care about you saying you may leave. They want the drug more than the relationship

I’ve been asking my addict husband to try some form of treatment for years and he always says YES! Then he never does anything to get there.🤷🏼‍♀️

He never will admit, he will redirect, "you have problems". I've been with the person almost three years. " You get help yourself." Really at wits end, been living on my couch since February and wonders why I don't lay with him.

Smoking pot? Really? I've been living with a crack addict for three years! She admits she has a problem but refuses to do anything about it! Sometimes I get frustrated and yell at her and she says that drives her to it more, I'm working on that... but after a 12 day binge where she's only slept four hours the entire time it gets hard. I'm "punishing" her if I don't let her take our only car after she's been up that long! She thinks she can do it recreationally, but she has shown time and time again that she can't. The first couple of days aren't that bad, but after the third day something in her changes. I'm afraid she will die soon if she doesn't stop completely! She has gotten better, I used to wake up in the middle of the night and she'd be gone... I'd be sitting around not knowing where she was or who she was with. Thankfully she doesn't do that anymore. I'm physically, emotionally and financially drained!

glad i’m not the only one. my gf of 1 month is an addict and it’s already hard to back out. but i told her, if we have ONE MORE fight over this (her going out to drink and lying about it even tho i would’ve allowed), i will leave despite how much it hurts. for now we’ll see since the fight was yesterday.

I’m going to be honest here . I’ve been battling heroine addiction for years now and I have a wife who loves me very dearly and has been my rock in this bleak existence of my life. I’ve put this woman through more than anyone deserves and reading the comments of some of the people on here who write us off completely as forsaken just crushes my soul. Not looking for sympathy or condoning the bs, but lord we are human and not perfect .

Thanks much sir.
Atleast this is a confirmation that there's nothing wrong with my decision.

It feels manipulative to tell my partner, "I will only stay with you if you go to an AA meeting."

I had to leave. He will never be honest. So he can never get clean

My wife went to a 28 day rehab and left with a guy after 14 days. She hasn't called or seen our 8 year old daughter in a month. Smdh

Some good advice! But feels like your saying leaving the partner is inevitable. I’ll be sticking with my partner because I love them addict or not
