Tried this and it worked on my son's iPad 7th gen. I was able to restore the iPad without losing its content. The downside for many is that you need to purchase to be able to register the product and activate it. I just opted for a month's subscription. Another downside is the auto-renewal. No "cancel subscription" button so I had to email the Support Team and asked them to cancel my subscription.
