Olive Pomace Oil comes from the olive grove; it acquires its properties from the skin, the pulp and the pit of the olive. Moreover, in its preparation process, it is blended or mixed with virgin or extra-virgin olive oil.
Its composition consists of two parts.
• 98% is what is known as the saponifiable fraction or the combination of different fatty acids. This means the monounsaturated fatty acids, that is, the ones that should represent the largest proportion in a balanced diet to cover between 13% and 18% of the total calories for the day. They contribute to reducing bad cholesterol (LDL) without reducing HDL (good cholesterol) levels.
In Olive Pomace Oil, oleic acid is the predominant and most differentiating one compared to other seed oils. It can account for up to 85% of its composition, supplying all its heart-healthy benefits to our bodies.
• The remaining 2% of the composition of Olive Pomace Oil is the insaponifiable fraction, made up of minority compounds that are notable for their health benefits, with cardioprotective, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. These include triterpene acids and alcohols, squalenes, tocopherols, sterols, fatty alcohols and phenolic compounds.

Spain’s Advanced Scientific Research Council (CSIC) and ORIVA are supporting research to explore all of its potential. The main research body in Spain is currently immersed in studies to better understand its cardiovascular possibilities and open up new avenues in the prevention of Alzheimer’s disease.
