Teach Your Dog To Walk Between Your Legs | Heel Between Your Legs
Показать описание
Hey everyone! Today I'm sharing some tips on how to teach your dog to walk between your legs! Some of you guys were asking for this video
So, here you go! I hope this helps!
1. Grab treats,
I always use treats to teach my dogs new tricks, use treats as reward, to mark the behavior or position that I want. You might see I'm using toys in the video, which you can also use. But I think you better start with a treat
2. Position yourself in front of your dog, and lure the treat from between your legs. If your dog has practiced food lure, he or she will follow the treat from your hand, and will come right between your legs. When he or she is in the position, pull your hand up so he or she heads up, squeeze your legs a little bit so he or she won't pass through your legs, and quickly mark by saying yes and reward him using the treat. Lure him out, and start over by positioning yourself in front of your dog. Remember do several times, gonna be weird for your dog at first.
3. After awhile, introduce the verbal cue. U can use between, or through, or place or whatever you want to call it. So introduce the command every time your dog is in the position.
4. After you introduced the command, place your dog in front of you. When your dog is used to come in between from behind, it's time for you to teach 'em to come between you from in front of you. This step is quite tricky, cause your dog might be confused and ends up facing the wrong direction. So to do this close your legs first, lure your dog to your left side (almost like teaching heel), then open your legs and say the command.
5. Repeat it for several times until your dog understands what the command means. And afterwards you can start teaching him to follow you as you walk. Basically it's like teaching your dog to heel, keep feeding your dog while walking. Sounds easy but takes time to perfect.
