We started this Tamiya Grasshopper II build comparing it with the Tamiya Grasshopper, so let's end it with a full tour of the differences and similarities. I must say I am personally pleased with the result, and they really make up a nice pair, sitting here side by side. Looking forward running and filming them.

The Tamiya Grasshopper II 2017 (Tamiya 58643), released the 22nd of March 2017, is a re-release of the original Tamiya Grasshopper II (model 58074), released the 9th of August 1988.

My Tamiya clodbuster was my first build ever n the instructions were awesome, I just have to paint body n my first build done! The grasshopper was my dream rc car growing up in the 80s I asked for this rc every bday every xmas but it never came, damn Santa lol. Great looking builds bro👍👍👊👊📹📹

Great comparison. As I said before, these two looks amazing together, and quite a nice touch with no. 35 and 53. For running 540 silvercans are great for these hoppers. They are driving exactly like a buggy from the eighties should = great fun. My black edt Grasshopper has had 90% of my driving this summer.

Hi Matteo, production values on your videos are fantastic, watching you LandFreeder vids prompted me to get the matte black special as my first RC car. what would you recommend for a 5 yr old, want to get something for my nephew and been looking at rising fighter, grasshopper 1 or hornet.
He has big garden, mixture of short and long grass but the ground breaks up in summer as it’s mostly clay so lots of cracks open up and make it quite bumpy.

Very nice cars you've got there and I really like the Grasshopper 11 for the improvements it has over the original Grasshopper but I suppose things like the rear differential gearbox mount can be swapped if it can be sourced from a shop, here in Australia Tamiya RC parts are really difficult to get from anywhere. It may even be easier to import from overseas and even to buy a Grasshopper 11 and paint it the Candy Green from the start and I actually have a Grasshopper in Candy Green on order at a local shop here should be receiving it soon. I suppose the battery compartment issue can be remedied with some really sticky tape but that's a bit messy. Or maybe a long zip tie around the chassis and securing the battery door in place. I might be able to rig up a system which uses body pi s like the Grasshopper 11? Buy anyway bout your Grasshopper cars are beautiful 😍😍.

I have been inspired by this GH2 build Mikael. This is the body colour I'm going to use for my Mad Bull. I will also use custom coloured Grasshopper 1 decals from MCI. It will be good company for my Candy Green Grasshopper and Custom Fighter Buggy RX. I'm very excited about it.

FOR SALE.... An original R/C Tamiya Opel Ascona. It worked when put away in the 80's. Still has it's mechanical speed controller. Shares many parts with the Wild Willy. Rear end should still be AOK. Could be easily brought back to life. Will go on ebay soon. Serious inquiries only please.

Great videos, I watched the whole GH2 series before buying my own rerelease model. I had a Tamiya Bear Hawk back in the early 90s and couldn’t resist getting a classic Tamiya buggy! I now have a Hornet on order too.... In this video you show a different rear axle on the GH and GH2. It’s difficult to find GH2 tyres, so do you know if the GH / Hornet wheels will fit the GH2 axle (the shorter wheel adaptors are in the GH2 kit unused). It’s much easier and cheaper to find the Hornet/GH tyres.

i have the same problem with my grasshopper 2: the rear suspensions seems to like being stuck in the middle. Not sure if that will fix itself after some break in?

Also, I am 100% in agreement with you to keep the 380 motors. They become a handful to drive with a 540 and would probably ruin your sweet paint job.
