Deleting Front Shocks on Tamiya Grasshopper RC Buggy made it extra classy.

We're going to show the mod, how the shocks are replaced with hidden springs, and take it out for a ride on the beach!

Big shoutout to @michaelianjohnson1351 for suggesting front shocks removal!

What a great mod! The silhouette looks significantly better and it still handles bumps quite well.

Just did this mod to my Grasshopper II, which saved the buggy from a early retirement

That seems remarkably effective 🧐🤔

Years ago a friend was driving a grasshopper with another friend and I's super mod Blackfoots. The poor grasshopper was getting killed. I had to do the same fix on the fly to keep him running . Exept I used a leaf spring mounted across the front. The black banding steel for lumber bundles cut into thin strips made heavy duty six leaf bruiser leaf springs.

The shock towers might be my favourite part of the Hornet look but I really like the sleek version you built here. Also, since it's a Hornet you can just do suspension mods like these. It's not like it'll make the handling any worse

I can´t wait to built and run it again.

Like other viewers, I usually prefer to see shock towers on a buggy like this, but this sleek look does have its merits as well. As someone menrioned, it can't make the handling any worse, as the Grasshopper is a bouncy car anyway, unless fitting better (real) shocks. Just wondering how the suspension arms will hold up, as these are now used in a different way from the original design

This is an awesome fix for those junk hornet chassis i have sitting around!

I am currently upgrading my grasshopper and was wondering where you bought those lights? Also super cool mod!!!

How does the car handle overall afterwards? I thought that looked way too bouncy to work on a hornet but it looks like you're running a 540 motor instead of the stock 380.

Great video but it would have been better without the music so we could have heard the grasshopper better. I used to have a rock buster It was my first RC with a 380 motor lol

this is when you dont want shocks with oil... the front end bounces like crazy, oil in the shocks would make it so much more stable

Why not upgrade to oil filled? Aesthetics?

Surely this will just lead to fatigue cracks in the sprung wishbone that wasn’t designed to just bend all the time?

man, i need soo many recivers and batteries, i have so many i want to run, but i have so many sitting around because i don't want to move a receiver around too much
