Tamiya 'The Grasshopper' Kit Build - Part 4 (Final)

I will openly admit that I pushed this final segment of my Tamiya Grasshopper build off as much as possible. It's not that I didn't want to see this buggy completed, I just didn't want the experience to end. Common sense finally won out and the final parts and pieces (not many) were assembled and this buggy is now ready to roll.

The final steps in this segment were rather easy; applying decals, attaching a few accessories, and then joining the body to the chassis. Through the entire process, I've gained new appreciation for these vehicles, and the entire build process.

Now that this buggy has been assembled (and power-tested), I can't wait to see how it handles. That experience in itself will be a fun comparison between the vehicles of the past and modern-day radio-controlled machines!

He he, "fully bitten by the builder bug". Love your comments. It has been great following your build. Great final result! Thumbs up.

Thanks for this just on with my first build.... up to paint stage but couldn’t resist a little play! Can’t get it to go straight despite messing with the rods.... an episode 5 follow up for tuning would be great 👍

Heck man I didn’t put my decals on back in 80s lol That lil 380 motor seemed like a beast back in the day lol Good job man👍🏼

I really enjoyed going through this build with you Tim! It reminded me of "the old days" when I built several RC cars. I totally agree with you that kit builds are a must-do as the process is so educational and fun.

That was cool and very informative. I’m looking for as many build videos for the grasshopper.
The videos you made are helpful, because I’m also new to building my first rc
I was intimidated, but now I can’t wait to start the build
Just waiting for everything to arrive
Thanks again cheers 👍🏼

Looks great Tim! It's always tough running graphic's that are really long, but sometimes laying out some pencil marks help get them where you want. That's such a classic build! Love how it turned out! Great job on this and a big Thumbs up! ;-)

It turned out great.  I recommend a 4WD and something with oil filled shocks for your next build.  That will round out your building experience.

This build series was really good thx for doing this. You make this kit look easy. Which has taken the fear out of it for me. Maybe for a 4x4 build you could check out th Gmade Komodo kit. thx for your time and effort.

This is cool. I want to at some point try my hand at a kit because I think it'd be fun and you'd learn a lot. But are there any options for a low price outside of this and say the ECX amp kit? If there are others, I'd at least like to weigh my options.
