The 4 Dimensional Space Time With Brian Greene

Brian Greene the American theoretical physicist, mathematician, and string theorist explains the bizarre nature of the fabric of space-time which is a conceptual model combining the three dimensions of space with the fourth dimension of time.

The famous physicist Albert Einstein helped develop the idea of Spacetime as part of his theory of relativity. Brian Greene also credits Newton for his vision of the nature of space and time, although much of what Newton thought to be true about Spacetime is now considered to be wrong.

Brian Greene studies string cosmology which could explain why the space around us has three large dimensions.

Albert Einstein revolutionized our understanding of gravity and laid the foundation for the many scientific and technological breakthroughs that came after him.

The stronger the gravity, the more spacetime curves, and the slower time itself proceeds.

Time goes faster the farther away you are from the earth's surface compared to the time on the surface of the earth. This effect is known as "gravitational time dilation".

To describe the gravitational field of a black hole and the physical quantities such as the spacetime curvature which diverge at the center of the black hole, we need a theory that goes beyond general relativity into the quantum mechanics. Such a theory should allow the description to be extended closer to the center and might even allow an understanding of physics at the center of a black hole.

There are many proposed theories that attempt to explain what gravity is. String theory and Loop quantum gravity are the most popular among these theories. Currently, there is still no complete and consistent quantum theory of gravity, and the candidate models still need to overcome major formal and conceptual problems. They also face the common problem that, as yet, there is no way to put quantum gravity predictions to experimental tests, although there is hope for this to change as future data from cosmological observations and particle physics experiments becomes available.

I love being reminded in moments like this that we are the universe. That's why this timeline is so chaotic, but so individual. All of our lives are an amalgamation of all of these particles. We are products of their combinations and are subject to the same force being exacted on celestial bodies. Time is our acceleration through space as our particles struggle to stay stable but eventually fail due to entropy. When we die our energy is just redistributed through spacetime

There is a Theory, which explaining all puzzles of current Physics, - you can find it in the book - "Theory of Everything in Physics and The Universe"

Maxwell proved the speed of light is constant in the universe. Unchanging. Speed is distance over time. V=d/t. Einstein argued if speed V is constant, distance and time must be related, interchangeable. Hence spacetime. Realizing why Einstein came up with relativity (malleability of spacetime) is not that hard.

If I am wrong, tell me exactly why.

Edit: I spoke to a PhD. What I said is completely wrong.

Thank you for sharing this that was very interesting. I have read one of Brian Greene's books and he is a very knowledgeable man. Great video.

what about the other 3 dimensions of rotation?

For four dimension space-time of relativity and quantum mechanics, the speed of light / causality might be better reference than time or space, as speed of light / causality remains constant in domains of relativity and quantum mechanics, while time and space are relative? Theorizing and experimenting in terms of speed of light / causality may take time to become comfortable with, likely necessary for quantum mechanics and relativity

5:25 Time passes faster for someone on top of the skyscraper? Shouldn’t that be slower?

Don't the "atoms of spacetime" have to be 4D spacetime as well? And shouldn't they have something to do with wavefunctions?

Time Fields: (Sq.rt.Kgm)/A = seconds. This can be divided into two unequal time fields which when multiplied together are equal to the previous formula. (Sq.rt.Kg)/A(sq.rt.m ) x (sq.rt.Kgm^3)/As = (sq.rt.Kgm)/A. These formulas are derived from the mass energy equivalence formulas. Such as Kg = A^2s^2/m, Kgm/As^2 = A, Kgm^2/As^2 = Am and Kgm^2/A^2s^2 =m.

I have read all of Brian Greene's books. They are just downright fascinating. You can also get them unabridged on audio book as well so that you can be learning during your commute. These subjects, in my opinion, are the truly great questions that are in front of us.

Spacetime is an n-dimensional continuum consisting of dimensions of both space and time. Normally spacetime is considered as having 4 dimensions (x, y, z, t), but higher-dimensional spacetimes are often encountered in theoretical physics, e.g. the 5-dimensional spacetime of Kaluza-Klein theory or the 11 dimensions of spacetime in M-theory.
