CLARIFICATION:
One of the comments pointed out that molecules do have weight, and my correction suggested that they don't. Of course they do, but in this context Rennick was referring to CO2 molecules (he wrongly called them 'atoms') colliding with other molecules of N2 and O2, and passing on energy according to Newton's 3rd law. In this case it is not the weight that passes on energy, it is mass. That's what the 'm' stands for in Newton's Third Law.
The reason physicists use mass and not weight is that weight varies. In interstellar space weight is effectively zero, and even on Earth weight varies depending on your location. If Rennick had submitted a test paper to my old physics teacher, he would have been marked down for referring to 'weight' and not 'mass' in Newton's Laws of Motion.

Stupidest politician in Australia?
That's a hotly-contested position.

At first this is funny, untill you remember he's an elected official controlling government policies and paid with our taxes.

"Co2 is not a pollution" Neither is water, but if you are in a room full of it, you might have a problem.

In the USA he’d be the republican science or education minister.

Tides go in Tides go out, you can't explain that.

What annoys me the most is that as a politician, he has access to scientific experts who could advise him, and aides who could do research for him. He’s not some random guy on the street, if he is ignorant of the facts, it’s because he’s chosen to be so for his own agenda.

Its one thing to be stupid. But being stupid while convinced you are smart is dangerous.

For those who are unaware, Aussies think of Queensland in much the same way that Americans consider Florida. Both for the severe educational/intellectual impairment which seems to affect much of the country populace (outside of the city of Brisbane, in a not uncommon city/country dichotomy), as well as the stubbornly conservative, absurdly reactionary & bloody idiotic qualities of several of its politicians.

So you're saying that the greenhouse effect isn't caused by the entire sky being covered in glass panels?!

I remember Scomo bringing in a block of coal and saying what’s harmful about that.

As an American, I am pleased to see we don't have all the stupid politicians (we just have the absolute dumbest). Thank you Australia.

As an American I would like to say to my Australian cousins, "I feel your pain".

He's not the most embarrassing senator from Queensland either!

Rennick is so ignorant that he's not even wrong. He's incoherent.

"Could this be the stupidest politician in Australia?" Unfortunately, the answer is a resounding NO. Senators Babet and Malcolm Roberts make Rennick sound like Einstein.

He’s not stupid. He’s deliberately muddying the waters to confuse the ignorant.

One of the problems is that I don’t think someone with the Dunning Kruger syndrome is able to understand what the Dunning Kruger syndrome is…
