People who say subsidies are socialist are kind of misunderstanding how subsidies work.
If you subsidize projects to make it easier for companies to shoulder the costs of starting a new venture, with the objective of creating jobs in the long run; that's a subsidy.
If you give 12 billions to farmers who can't take their business elsewhere anyway because they need their land, in order for them to vote for you in the upcoming elections; that's just hush money.
