My main problem with it is that it feels like dark pulse should be activating much much faster but there’s such a crazy wait time between each hit of damage that it feels incredibly weak

Ok so, I tried Darkrai in the PTS, and I gotta say it feels underwhelming, BUT, I think I’m onto something.

I used Shadow Claw with Nasty Plot, and the items Muscle Band, Razor Claw, and Slick Spoon.
Since basics hit with physical damage but abilities use magic damage (special atk), I decided to combine them both and it seems to work!

The combo would be (for now) Nasty Plot -> Shadow Claw -> Ult -> Shadow Claw -> Basic.

Late games becomes even better since Nasty Plot+ refreshes when enemy falls asleep and Shadow Claw does just that. I’m thinking on using double stack Atk Weight and Sp Atk Specs along with Resonant Guard, or Aeos Cookie for extra HP. There’s also Shell Bell for the CD. I will update any other finds I come across.

UPDATE #1: Early game feels so much better now, but late game… it gets so rough.. Imma try Shell Bell next to see what changes, but so far double stacking isn’t that great compared to the first build I tried. I feel Darkrai NEEDS a buff, and a big one..

UPDATE #2: This time I used Resonant Guard, Shell Bell, and Slick Spoon. Gotta say survivability is pretty decent now, perhaps even good, but damage is still pretty mediocre. Considering how squishy Darkrai is, he should hit harder and have more mobility with his abilities, the classic glass cannon. But for now, he’s just glass..

For a speedster it looks pretty sluggish. The fact the kit is to put things to sleep sort of indicates that, too. I think the potential for burst damage is there, but unless someone gets really good at landing those bursts, it will be a tough one to master. The ult is really cool, I think it just needs more tuning on the damage and make it feel more like an actual speedster with some mobility or increased attack damage. Maybe the attack items/attack speed would be beneficial given the CDR on moves are so long?

When mons are sitting there waiting for dark pulse to end... that's painful.

12:05 The shadow claw dark pulse combo seems sick if this is true.
Hit the first use of shadow claw to put a mark on Venu. Then use dark pulse and hit Venu with first use of dark pulse, activating the mark and putting Venu to sleep. Finally landing shadow claw on a sleeping opponent does increased damage dealing 1, 780 damage to Venu compared to the 1, 029 spragles did on the altaria a few seconds earlier. It seems overall reception of Darkrai is negative but I can't wait to try this.

Shedinja Doll is useless because it sets you up to instantly get KO'd and Dark Pulse isn't much better. It really needs to hide where you're targetting.

Love the design of Darkrai and what he's supposed to do. Dark Pulse feels slow to me, especially as this is a Speedster, you are just stranded there while the enemies wait for you.

I really hope this is an early first look because this has the parts of a great Pokémon, but everything about it feels underbaked.
Some changes I’d like to see to this:
-if it’s gonna be a lvl 6 first move Pokémon, it needs some kind of increased effectiveness from its base moves, because as it stands it feels bad to farm and to gank. It’s burst damage is pretty good, so I’m tentative to say it needs a damage number increase. Maybe decrease it’s base cooldowns or, preferably, during the duration of calm mind, make it normal attacks scale off of its special attack stat as that would allow better usage of the damage items and emblems it would want to run for more consistent damage while its waiting for hypnosis to come back up.
-Dark Pulse needs to be faster and when you pop leave Pokémon within that circle you pop out of either gets knocked away or gets put to sleep.
-the nasty plot/dark void build needs healing. Either from Nasty Plot’s boosted attacks or using a boosted auto to wake up Pokémon put to sleep by Dark Void.
-if you win your duel during the unite, you should be rewarded. Either you should be healed to full with unstoppable or you should have a brief invuln window and move speed increase so you can at least reposition without getting blown up by the enemy team. It feels really bad to be punished so hard with no counter play for yourself for winning in your own unite. It needs something.

I feel like it is vital to try and confuse the enemies waiting in the dark pulse circles with the shadow claws so they don’t know when u are going to pop out. Still needs buffs
