Actually Shedinja doesn't TECHNICALLY count as nincada's evolution. It's just a byproduct of the evo.

I always loved that Scizor has the same BST as Scyther, but my favorite thing is that they kept that same philosophy going into Kleavor. 500 BST for everyone!

It's a sensible decrease. Considering the fact that Shedinja is merely the husk of Ninjask, it lore-wise makes sense. Competitively, it's equal sensible, since it can be equipped with a focus sash to prevent it from dying on the first turn. It's moveset counts

Fun fact: Shedinja’s hp stat being capped at 1 makes its base hp stat effectively -117. This makes its effective bst 118, the lowest in the series, beating out Sunkern at 180 and Wishiwashi baby form at 175.
