I have a avocado that I brought from the Super Walmart on McHenry from the Dominican Republic.. I'm growing it now it got cold for winter . I brought it in when summer comes I'll put it back outside it's doing well the leaves are totally different from the American avocados that we have over here...

Try a nibble taste of the leaves - Bacon is known to be aniseed taste and Mexicola
is stronger taste and think thats what creates their Cold Hardiness and
is one way to determine? To me seedling may have some Wurtz?? i quite
enjoy my Wurtz but never eat the skin. Easy skin peeling is a good trait.

Thanks for another interesting video Jeff. Quick question, I have a few avocado trees that are 2 years old that have branches that turned black. Do you just cut them off? Why does this happen. In 1 case it's the top foot of the leader. Thanks

Well I'll probably only ever be able to grow seedling avocados and its doubtful they'd ever flower if I kept them going but it would be fun if one day one of them produced an edible fruit 🤞

You lucked out that taste was decent enough could be a cross with zutano since many Hass commerical growers will use zutano for better Hass fruit production if you think seed was likey bought at a grocery store.

I have two avocado trees that my parents planted years ago from hass seeds thinking they were guaranteed avocados turns out one produces one inch fruit and the other one similar to hass but slightly less flavor 😅

Have all of the six varieties of avocado on your tree fruited? If so, are they all good, edible?

It may be a bacon or fuerte seedling or hybrid although I wasn't there when avocado x took avocado y out on a date and made love on the first night. Lmao. With that said, I'm just guessing.
