On today's episode I go over (7) essential growing tips you should know if you are planning on growing a Hass Avocado tree or any other Avocado tree. These simple tips could double your harvest and dramatically increase the health and vitality of your tree. Avocados are not only nutritious but also a very attractive ornamental tree that looks beautiful in the garden. Southern California is the home of the Hass avocado and has been growing this this zone for almost 100 years. Due to its high demand of water many Avocado growers are forced to abandon there trees due to high water costs. This leaves it to the home gardener to pick up the slack and grow their own organic avocado trees right in their back yards.

Hi! You give me hope. I just bought an avocado tree from Lowe's today, i live in zone 9A in central California- the tree is in a 3 gallon pot, its about 5 ft tall. I just got home and set it outside under my patio umbrella and i have no idea what to do with it. But i plant to keep it in its nursery pot until spring and then transplant it to a 5 gallon pot. It has a lot of new growth on it and looks healthy, any tips to help it survive the winter? It obviously doesnt snow in our area, we just get some light morning frost in like January.

I’m new to avocado world but I planted a hass seed well threw it in the ground forgot about it and a few months later it was growing . My question is at 2 year old should it be almost 8’ tall. It’s planted next to my banana tree that gets lots of food scraps and fertilizer. The trunk is about 1 1/2 wide still green with a little bark at the bottom. Also how long do you think it will take to bare fruit ?

0:55 - How do you know when they're ready to be picked?

I've got similar Hass avo trees myself. I have a ton now (heading into October), tho not quite as big and a few have already dropped. Strike now?

3:08 - Awesome table! Thanks for sharing. Makes me wonder if I should swap one of my Hass with a Fuerte.

avocado roots only go down a foot or so..." mate! don't think you know your trees. Your pruning comments are also non-sensical. And you show a ripe avocado cut in half as if straight off your tree... must be a magical plant !!

Please...Stop the music. We all have our own music. People don't watch these videos because they want to hear your favorite music. Sorry, but true,
