Ive seen other mechanics say to never spray directly into the throttle body because the dirt inside will become slush and fall into the engine and make it worst. To spray on a microfiber towel instead

Just know that an energized throttle body, if it decides to close with your finger in it, it can take your finger off.

People on this comment thread are absolutely correct. Never put your fingers in there like you did. If that decided to close you be screaming. I myself manually open and put my long screwdriver wrapped in a cloth so no scratches occur to keep it open safely. I then put the CRC onto a microfiber and clean as far as I can go. I then get another screwdriver and wrap the microfiber around the screwdriver and go in further for a deeper carbon clean. Every spring. Good effort but watch those finger's.👊

That is how you are supposed to do it you never push the throttle body flap with your hands or it will be damaged. Great video!

NEVER EVER SPRAY THE CLEANER THIS WAY. 😱..YOU RISK DAMAGING THE MOTOR. THE CORRECT WAY IS SPRAY THE CLOTH WITH THE SPRAY CLEANER, AND CLEAN IT WITH THE SOAKED CLOTH, NOT THIS WAY, AND HAVE SOMEONE KEEP THE CAR RUNNING ON PARK, TO KEEP THE THROTER OPEN WHILE YOU WIPED WITH THE CLOTH.

the back of mine in my 2012 chevy colorado was so gunked up and dark on the back side i had to remove it completely to truly clean it all off, opened the flap manually gently and it caused 0 issues. after i reinstalled and went for a drive i couldn't believe how much better the truck ran, it was for sure gunked up bad affecting how it ran

Man that looks brand new it's so clean! Mine was all kinds gunked up. Turn key to on and press pedal to open the butterfly plate is the easiest way I'd say.

Click bait.... Throttle body should always be removed for cleaning, then PCM cleared, engine started and allowed to idle for 12 minutes so PCM relearned baseline throttle position. Then vehicle driven for about 10 miles so it can relearn transmission shift points. This is the bad thing about YouTube... Anyone can buy a can of CRC throttle body cleaner, but most cannot do the job correctly.

1998 Toyota RAV4 2.0 L A/T does not have an electric throttle body? I just cleaned mine but skipped the part about turning on the ignition and depressing the gas pedal. Replaced the air filter also 😊

Hi should we clean the hole which hold the throttle plate or just the plate, I presume we should clean thr groove which enable the cap to either open or close it completely...all the debris that is stuck in the groove is blocking thr plate to close it completely...ofcourse we need to clean the cap as well however the main culprit is the debris accumulated in thr Grove if I am not wrong.
