Seems nobody's commenting on the subtle details to describe how scared Spear & Fang are, from remaining in a motionless stance to Spear sweating from adrenaline to both their hearts rapidly beating. This is exactly how people and animals react in a life threatening situation, especially when something is stalking you and can strike at any time, anywhere without warning, and you won't see it coming.

I know the show is literally called primal, but this is by far the most deserving of the title. There is just an image fear of the unknown and dark that is conveyed so well in this episode, to be in a situation where every fiber of your being screams danger without a visible cause. It’s something we’ve all experienced, mostly as kids in the dark, yet it is so ingrained into us we can recognize it immediately. I know I went off there but this is just so good.

Perfect horror! In this world it truly is "survival of the fittest" and I love how even Spear and Fang had this unexplained, instinctive fear to run. Their hearts started beating faster, sweat was dripping from Spear's body and they just _knew, _ you have to flee from this thing.

This thing has jet black skin, has long slashing claws, a piercing shriek and a light build for the body to hunt its prey at high speeds, it has great strength to able to obliterate animals despite their size and giant thick trees, its nocturnal and has night vision or keen senses to hunt at night and its blood is idk black as well but it’s critical weakness is its sensitive to light and fears fire and it can make it burn to a crisp
Edit: forgot to mention it has a distinct smell and presence for it to make other animals like spear know it’s dangerous

I would NOT want to be in that scary forest with a Night Feeder hunting me down. Especially in a scary forest with fog in it.

Spear and Fang running to a foggy area actually gave them an advantage. They can’t see the Night Feeder, but the Night Feeder also can’t see them.

It's a good type of suspense when during a chase scene and the shot shows the chasees with a considerable time/distance gap between them and the chaser.

And instead of that being a cause for relief, instead that momentary pause where no one is seen behind them is actually more of a subtle sense of dread that the Predator doesn't NEED to be on their heels. That they don't need to put out 100% to get 100%

I really dig the atmospheric, mist and creepy aesthetic of the forest when at night. It gives off a horror vibe as Spear and Fang are being pursued by the night feeder, the choice to only show its POV and hearing it roar is much more frightening than it just appeared outta nowhere and chased these two on screen.

Man this was one of my fav eps, it was so tense the entire time, carried almost entirely by sound and music. This show is something else.

not gonna rag on it because this show is phenomenal, but the fact that Spear is able to exceed the speed and pace of a fully grown Tyrannosaurus is insane.

Its crazy to believe this is what our ancestors lived through. Maybe not with the same prehistoric creatures, but how crazy it was to survive back then!!
