We have heard you, and have done an entire video on Oscarville. Please check it out as well to understand the backstory to the formation of the lake.

Last year we camped in our camper at the lake. We stayed one night. As we ate our dinner at the picnic table located on our camping lot our dog kept whimpering and barking at something in the distance. It was too dark for us to see anyone, but at the time our two-year-old who was nonverbal was waving at someone… we shined our flash light to the area, but saw nobody. Needless to say, we decided to call it a night and go inside. That same night our newborn woke up at 3 am crying ready for his feeding. I woke up to his cry. As soon as I got out of the bed I heard someone stepping onto the steps of the camper. It freaked me out I thought someone was trying to break in, but no one jiggle the handle to the door.. I turned on the light outside and tried to look out the tiny window, but I didn’t see a single soul. I got our son fed and calmed him down and once he fell asleep I heard the steps of the camper creak like someone was stepping off.. It felt as if something or someone was worried about a baby crying.. creeped me out.. I didn’t sleep the rest of the night.

I just lost my brother in law to a drowning on Friday while swimming in Lanier. I do understand drownings can happen anywhere, but I couldn’t understand why his noodle kept moving inches away from his grip for no apparent reason. I swam as hard as I could to help him and went under to search, but to no avail. God bless you my brother and may you RIP. I can never go to Lanier again…..

I live here. Lanier catches bodies weekly and as someone whose lives here their whole life I will never swim in it

That’s kind of sad imagine going to visit a family members grave but you can’t

“Whether you believe in ghost, giant catfish, bad omen or curses one thing is clear you better be careful when you visit Lake Lanier.” That gave me chills low key

Not every corpse was relocated. There are still some graves in Lake Lanier.

I lived on Lake Lanier for over a decade of my life, most of which was on a houseboat, everyone always kind of just knew, you respect the water, you respect the land. Or the water will take you without remorse.

I grew up watching the lake fill, some of my family's land is on the bottom of the lake and family who perished going over one of the bridges, which were originally iron grates. It is indeed a place of haunting memories.

He conveniently skips over mentioning that this lake was built over a wealthy Black Town. Some say the spirits of those people are still in there. But he had to white wash this... 🙄

Ok so I literally live on Lanier and my Grandpa’s told me all about it. Read this, it’s interesting.
So pretty much, a few weeks or so before they made the lake, everybody living in the areas the lake would be were told to move out. They couldn’t do anything about it. They could only take a few things, and didn’t have much time to leave. Many of them had no where to go, and some died of starvation. Georgia’s government then proceeded to flood everywhere where lake Lanier was meant to be. They flooded thousands of houses, graveyards, buildings, just anything that was in the way. If you think about it, Lake Lanier might be the most haunted place in the world. All of the those spirits in the graveyards, plus there were probably many haunted houses. It’s actually kind of creepy, and very inconsiderate of the government. There’s also probably at least a hundred missing people and murdered people still missing, never found before they flooded it.
When someone drowns, and the authorities can’t find the body, some people believe its the angry spirits, forgotten about, taking revenge. There’s many more uncovered bodies than 27, but as I said before, and the result of a murder of gone missing and never found…

My dads uncle was a really good swimmer. Him and his young daughter drowned in this lake. He was trying to save her. They later found his body in a deep deep pocket of the lake.

I’m from a small town close to “Killer Lanier”. I was on a pontoon boat and it got stuck because of low water levels and debris. I no longer frequent this lake, too many deaths every year. A family members nephew died in this lake...fishing. If you love to drink, along with swim, jet ski and boating, I would suggest you pick another lake.

The origins of the construction of the lake say a lot about what happened after.
