I’ve experienced that same thing on several occasions as a young man, I’d come home from working the night shift at about 7:00am to the sound of voices in the other room, wondering why my mom and step father are still up as they worked night but got home at about 1:00 or 2:00am but as I rounded the corner from the kitchen to the living room where the voices were coming from there was nothing but silence in the house, the voices vanished, this happened to me several times and it got to the point where I would just stand in the kitchen and listen to hear if I could make out anything they were saying but it was always just below hearing range, clearly voices but no discernible words, it remains a mystery to this day what it was I was hearing, I believe it was something supernatural.

The only true nightmare is someone crawling on the ceiling and not dusting off any cobwebs....

This happened a lot in one of my childhood homes. I’d be home alone upstairs, then suddenly hear what sounded like a bunch of people talking, laughing, and walking around downstairs. As soon as I stepped down the last step onto the main floor…absolute silence. No one inside, no one outside, no radio or tv on. My little brother, and older sister would have similar experiences when they’d be home alone. We got used to it eventually. 😅 (We are all perfectly sane, and thankfully after leaving that house we never experienced the phantom noises again.)

I believe it. Occasionally we have guests, unwelcomed guests usually before someone dies. I know about the nighttime whispers and light bulbs exploding while the lights are off. And we've caught things on camera that would scare the hell outta some people but it's never a hateful spirit. I'm always aware but other people don't see things or feel it. I do and my daughter who is now my angel could feel it too

3 days after my stepfather passed away I woke up 4 am to study. I was in uni semester exam. Whn I was studying suddenly I heard a gentle sound from metals collided. I ignored the sound as I was concentrating in reading. Suddenly the sound so loud shocking me then I stop reading came out from my bedroom to the living room which is just outside my bedroom. I knocking some stuffs to find the source of the sound. It's from the lose handle of his stationary bicycle. I sat down on a sofa near the bicycle & prayed for him showing him tht I was awared of his soul. Since then it never happened again. I asked my mom whether she heard a loud noise bcs she also woke up 4 am about to wash her face to open her shop at a traditional market. She said no. Maybe tht a sign from him for me as I wth his younger brother who slept on the sofa next to his bed in room in the hospital. Around 2 am suddenly I awoken up to check his condition to find out he was already passed away. My heart filled with love as I pray for him.

Our place in southern Georgia would completely repeat whole conversations from people who had conducted them earlier in the day. But yet when you checked on those family members, they would be sound asleep, not talking at all

At work, I keep ac at 55° plus at my job my coworkers say the woman's restroom says restroom stalls swing open plus people be talking at midnight plus next building has history.

I am glad my "guests" were at least friendly. A comment here and there. Knocking on the door and opening it. I sent them. Actually real quiet now. I hope their genuinely happy.

Something that's an interesting thought is that maybe in the world of the ghosts, they think they're alive & they can't see us... so when the person walked in the kitchen, it was like the "ghosts" saw the door open & got scared in their world bc we are ghosts to them.. that's why it seemed unwelcoming/like something was interrupted.. that thought kinda helps me not be scared of ghosts. Coexisting with ghosts isn't always so bad. I've done it quite a few times... maybe all the time. Kinda makes me not feel lonely.

How he heard nouse like people talking when he got home, i experienced the same thing i was home alone then i heard the main door open and heard the kids coming the 3 daughters who lived i shut the door in the room i was in then nothing. I thought wow they got quit walked out nobody looked at the clock their still in school. This was the start of the worst haunting i ever heard or read about.
