The only Japanese WW2 soldier I respect is Capt. Isao Yamazoe, he was a Japanese captain in Leyte Philippines who allowed a town/village to continue their way of life, even having his men punished if they did anything bad to them, he even promoted morning exercises to the townsfolk

When a guerilla group arrived to fight him, he told them to fight him elsewhere so that there won't be casualties in the town, there's a shrine of him in Philippines

It brings me great joy to see that more and more people are aware of what monsters they were.

Australian General Blamey summed it up as “In accepting your surrender, I do not find you an honourable foe!”

If only they had shown similar treatment to their captives

They were the biggest and most ruthless war criminals in WW2. If you've ever come across some documentaries about WW2, you would realise how inhumane they were towards the prisoners of war.

Knew a guy who was a British soldier who fought the Japanese, never said a word about it but refused to even have items in his house that were made in Japan until the day he died in 2002. His hatred was deep and I can only imagine the shit he witnessed to make him feel that way.

You can sympathize with them. But the horrors they committed in China cannot be forgotten.

And just like that, the entire population of South East Asia breath a sigh of relief but the horrid memories remain.

It’s one reason how so many WW2 vets came back with Katanas. No we didn’t break them to be mean. Many had already been broken by the Japanese themselves bc a katana is too long to carry on the modern battlefield. If you have a legit one and can still read the sword makers mark you have one helluva piece of history
