I already considered myself in shape before I started boxing. I ran 20 miles a week and hit the gym 3 times a week. After 3 months of boxing my body has never felt more fit. It pushes my workouts harder than ever and I always look forward to my next session. It even forced me to reduce happy hour indulgence because I didn't want to feel subpar when training.

I was 15 and I weighed as 224 pounds while I was 5'11, I am wide shouldered and thought it was part of me build until david goggins came in my head. After that it was full hour-long intense boxing bag trainings almost every day. Nothing else, just hitting and punching. It gave me so much strength and now I am 16, I weigh 197 pounds and I am 6'0. I did a fantastic job and I look more muscular now despite me losing weight. Guaranteed boxing is the best life saviour ever!

I’m 67 and do Krav Maga. The coach is an ex pro boxer. Needless to say striking is a priority.
I go to the gym 4-5 times a week so I know I’m in fairly good shape. But the Krav Maga with the boxing is totally reshaping my core.
The first month I saw a marked difference.
Guess my point is try boxing if you want to go next level on your core. Plus all the other benefits mentioned here.
You don’t have to get in a boxing gym and even get into hardcore sparring.
Just try basic and non contact for the overall fitness.

im 43 and have always been slim and fit ive been doing krav maga for about 2 years and havs in the last month joined a boxing gym. part of which includes learning to skip which ive never done but can do a bit now. im finding everthing much easier now as im getting fitter and i find the explosive trainining like plyometrics (ie clap press ups) is much more suited for my body than lifting weights was. it makes so much more sense to me to train for something ie to box rather than training just for the look. now there is feedback from my efforts ie i pracrice footwork and then can get through a few rounds and not slip its more rewarding. my results are in my abilities rather than my size. its just so much more interesting than just lifting weights and theres so much to develop and each part i work on is making me better as a fighter.

Boxing is great but kickboxing burns a few more calories. Just make sure you learn good technique!
