How to replace a Ford Flex / Edge door handle

In this video I show how to replace a Ford Flex / Edge door handle.

You do not have to remove the screw completely. Just loosen it a few turns and the keyhole bezel will come out. Eliminate the chance of dropping it into the door.

THANK YOU!!! I have a Lincoln MKX and I followed your directions and replaced it with FORD factory parts (I followed your advice and did not go with an aftermarket piece). The cost for my new handle was approximately $50. I read the comments here and only loosened the torx to get the old lock cover off and put the new one in place. I don't know how much money I saved by doing it myself, but THANK YOU!!

Hey James. I've used your video twice now. Once for the front passenger side of my 2007 Ford Edge SEL and now my driver side door with the keyhole. Worked perfectly both times. I simply loosened the screw (did not remove it) and used a shoestring as suggested from one of the comments below, to pull the latch toward me so the aftermarket part would fit. Done in 5 minutes LOL. I laugh because I was at a Ford dealership having my oil changed and asked if they could pop this on for me. The service manager asked two different mechanics and they told him the whole panel would have to come off. I explained how to do it and he told me the driver's door was much more complicated. They wanted to charge me $79.99 plus tax to fix it!!

So I watched this video (I'm not a car guy) built up a little courage. I needed the drivers side door handle with the lock. I bought the OEM for 65.00. Got the part, went to Harbor Freight got a 6.00 magnetic screwdriver and a 9.00 bit set. My torx was a T20 not a T27. Got home, 5 min later I was done. Thanks for the video. I did not want to take that panel off. He is spot on with this video.

I bought 1 on amazon, installed on 5/19/19 so far so good!!! Just two tips
1. You do not have to take the torx screw all the way out as it only keeps pressure on that piece!! Just back out a few turns and the piece will pull out.
2. I looped fishing line around the little latch piece, (you were having trouble getting behind through the big hole)inside the door next to the lock and pulled down to get the big handle piece behind that lever, that’s the part that unlatches the door, once the handle piece was behind I pulled the fishing line out and it was behind it!!!
And finished as you said, however all this without taking the inside panel off! Took about 20 minutes. Took more time to get the tools together 😀

I bought the OEM part and only backed out the screw a few turns and the little piece slid right out! Old door handle removed easy like u said and the OEM part slid right in no problems!  Thanks

Mine was the drivers door and the bezel that fit over the key hole broke which made my handle come off in my hand. Thanks for showing how the handle goes on.
