This process should be similar on the following vehicles:
2012 Ford Focus

Wow. That is way easier than I expected it to be.

Thanks for the video. Very clear and efficient! Thanks for putting the socket sizes in the description, too. That really helps because all my tools are in a storage unit, and it sucks to go back because I forgot something.

Had to replace it in a year and a half again . Had oil on pinion gear . Trying to find actaul oilleak . This mechainc said it's definitely from real seal . Also have valve cover oil leak which might be causing this . In your opinion, can top leak go into starter gear ? Or is it pretty tightly sealed against from the outside ?

Very clear thorough video after watching this vid I feel confident in replacing this particular starter I've replaced a few in my time but the cars I replaced them on were in the 70s. The starters were huge and in the very bottom or the engine not behind a bunch of things just 2big bolts after removing the wires of course then just drop it out and I could always clearly see the bolts on them cars the cars I'm speaking of were 73olds cutlass 350big block engines and Ford engine as well469big block that's what I'm used to but this vid helps me get an idea what I'm in for seems pretty simple but different 😜 thanks 👍👍👍👍

Hopefully you answer this quickly but, would this process be the same for the ST line of Focuses?

Will the wires come loose and make a clicking sound like a dead battery on the starter

Did you leave the rubber gasket on the new one on?

My 2016 Se 2.0L came with bracket on top of mounting bolts . Supposedly a cable is attached to it though mine didn't . A cable that suposedly runs from battery case to alternator ? And a smaller wire ?

is the black sponge important or you have to remove it?

Why the negative terminal to disconnect ? Won't either negative or posistive do it ? Bit easier for mw to do positive

thanks for the video. Rodents did a number on the engine harness so I'm in the process of trying to remove what's left of it. The old reverse domino effect: can't get at some connections, need to remove manifold, can't get at pcv connection to manifold, need to remove starter probably. And here i am, lol.
Dang design engineers don't make it easy(i'm a mfg engr)... guys should be made to work on their own designs. The techs must be swearing all day. Older cars are so mucher easier to work on. You have replace PCV on one of these?
