Easiest way is to privately upload your video to youtube, it automatically generates fairly accurate subtitles and then you put them in premiere as shown.

.SRT subtitle files contain time values and not timecodes plus you never know what is the actual framerate, so they need to be synced with the speech as you show in the video. But there are plenty of times the editor has to work with an unknown language and this leads to sync issues... The best approach (always) for .srt files is to have a dummy subtitle entry exactly at the very beginning for a couple of frames duration. I tend to write the name of the video, fps and the language for reference. When I drag and drop it to the timeline it always matches the video.

hi simon, how i can centralize the srt text over the video, regarding the number of the letters of the sentence, i need to centralize them one by one by cut tools. but how it automatically centralize the short and long sentences.

If i want to replace the SRT that is already on the sequence (lets say its been updated externally) is it possible to do? i tried "replace footage" but it didn't work for me...

But why is it that when I click to import, I don´t see the SRT files, but only video files? or is it only for the 2020 version

Hey budy. sorry to trouble you. i import SRT subtitle file, but it lost content, dialog lines. my original lines is 600 lines, but when i impoted to Premiere, that will be 400 lines dialog. over 200 lines missing, what happened?

When I try to add srt file, I see that it is not editable, I tryed to change the font color and the background color but it doesn’t work out . It’s still the same.

HI Simon, Thanks for your video. Is it possible to add animation to subtitles in the captions. I need to add subtitle animation whenever subtitle is appearing for about 30 minutes video. Please let me know how to do that. Thanks alot.

This is great but if I trim my video, the timestamps of my captions don't update. For example, the first caption to appear still appears at 01:00 instead of at 00:00 where it should. What am I doing wrong here?

Changing things in the caption tabs isn't changing anything in the source video.. only in the timeline
