Steam / Air Turbine Generator Test

This is the first testing using compressed air @90 psi of my steam turbine generator, that i intend to install in my parabolic mirror that produces steam. In the video you can see that it reaches a maximum of 4.27Amps and 8.7Volts which means 37W+ (P=V*I) , but since it's AC i think wattage is calculated using a different equation, so if anyone knows i'm all ears...

simply and amazingly awesome man... i have always wanted a place and tool to develop my ideas and test others also... im in the deep south and have no spending $, but i have always brainburned my ideas and goto sleep playing them in my mind, thats a truly great gift you have, never stop, NEVER :)

Watts is a universal power unit. Your equation is correct. The typical energy effective conversion to DC is 1:1.27, or %127, as most DC to AC inverters run at 83% peak efficiency. Non-inverse, or common conversion of AC to DC is 92-97% depending on the efficiency of the circuit used. Some efficiencies (such as bridge rectifiers) run as low as 79%, but I would hope you'd use a more efficient means.
Great work!

YA Johnny, someone besides me is saying that there is no free energy, just cheap energy. Just like there is no such thing as perpetual motion, but there is constant motion.
Nice work on the turbine!

Thanks for the info. I understand! One thing that is consuming a lot of mechanical energy in the form of attrition (30%) is the belt that connects the two engines.
Connect the generator directly to the shaft of the turbine work? or do not have the same efficiency?

Yes, in gear loss in mechanical energy, varies around 10%.
I imagined that it would not produce as efficiently plugged directly into turbine shaft, unless you develop a generator for high speed, since the maximum power the turbine is in heavy rotation.
Interesting this new change you wish to do!

U = IxR counts always ac and dc Same as P = UxI the only thing you must do is always rectifi the 3 phases to dc then your generator is more equal loaded. You can get more power from it. Nice job mate

One more thing about power factor, a heating element or incandecent light bulb will have a power factor of 1 so wattage used is equal to the Volt Amps used. A CFL light bulb will have a power factor of lets say 0.67 if its a 100 watt CFL then the number of volt amps needed to run the bulb will be 100/0.67=149. So that means that depending on your electrical load you may or may not need more volt amps to run properly.

Hello friend, also could not say what would be the power in AC. But I was impressed with the power of the turbine and its generator. I enjoyed this test, congratulations.
Where found this generator?
What is the diameter of the generator? So I can get a sense of size!
I never expected to be so strong your turbine.
Good job.

There is something to do with Volt Amp and power factor when dealing with AC power but that's all I know about it. Nice turbine

Lamp only need 50 Hz...
It mean ... 3000 rpm turbine run ...is enough to make light...
Bravo ...

Did you use a CNC to make it? If not what? Also do you have plans to make a how to video for it? I have been trying to make a air/steam turbine but none have turned out very good.

Nice one, now you need to make a three phase rectifier to get dc out, very simple only 6 parts and 7 if you want a capacitor. Id recommend using 509-875 from RS as your diode!

Nice output power. Would be amazing to see this on steam in a closed system with booster pumps and a steam generator coils.

Isn't 120v ac the same as 90vdc once it is smoothed out?

So yeah assuming you've got a good sine wave the direct, rectified DC voltage would be 3/4 of the Ac voltage.

However that still assumes you're doing that conversion on an American grid, where you have just one sine wave going from +120v to -120v.

So a single Ac sine wave is equivalent in some way to a DC flat line at 3/4 voltage. You have 3 phase power though when hooke up properly so that's nearly DC once rectified.

I don't know how amperage would figure into this.
All I know is that here in America 90 vdc motors are standard because they are basically running on rectified mains voltage.

If you would have put a 6-diode rectifier on this would it have produced more power do you think? EDIT: I spoke too soon. GREAT JOB! GREAT VIDEOS! I'm your newest subscriber!

Really great test. You have to test in steps and can't just jump to steam.

I am really looking forward to your video running the turbine with solar steam. It would be great if you could calculate the electrical efficiency from sun power 1000 watts/m^2 to electrical power

It's one great video. I'm only disapointed because i'm sure the motor go more of 20W (i think when you take the power of the bulb of car is one 20W). The same mesure with the 200W engine i'm sure when i see the motor is minimum 50W easy.

You should measure the voltage drop across the light bulb to get an idea of how much wattage is being used. The power factors of incandescent bulbs can be assumed to be 1 though.

Ok, I see that the three wires coming out of Your generator means that it's 3 phase A.C. electricity, and it goes to Your PC board which has six diodes to convert to DC and a cap to smooth out the power .   I'm curious about what kinds of diodes those are, they're not the normal round kind, they look more like power Transistors, but I'm expecting they are High Power Diodes, could You tell Me the Part # for those kinds of Diodes ?    Thanks .   Love all of Your different Works/creations .
