Steam Turbine from Scrap Materials

I've been wanting to make a steam turbine out of the two spare end caps that i had from my first cnc machined steam turbine for a while. So i decided to cut a piece of 42mm copper pipe to 19.6mm in length as the main body of the steam turbine. Then i soldered the inlet and outlet pipes, with the main difference being the way the air or steam escapes. My first turbine had its exhaust right after the inlet, and as a result much of the air was just being wasted immediately without doing any useful work. In this one though, the air runs through the whole inner body, pushing more blades simultaneously thus increasing the torque. I will definetely use it in my future experimental projects as it may seem very useful.
I hope you will enjoy this video, subscribe and leave a big thumb up!

Dude by that definition standard of scrap material, your crappy car must be a Rolls Royce.

Yeah because scrap materials generally include specially machined end caps and turbines with a 0.1mm tolerance....

Oh damn! Can you hear how those turbines just sing? It's amazing!

I must have missed the part where a turbine was made from scrap. CnC machined end caps and rotor hardly count as a scrap built turbine. Nothing wrong with a well made turbine from machined parts, just the title was a bit misleading. I wanted to see someone cobble a turbine together from a tin can, four broken pencils, and a 350 small block. Now that would be some good utubez.

Good stuff. Just note that when you connected two of them, they will both go at lower velocity than if you only run 1 of them. It's not that the first one is wasting any energy. The flow has no where else to go, but when you have a second turbine, there's 'back pressure' which cancels out with the original pressure, etc. etc. So I don't think that running 2 will allow for more total torque, and it's not the same as having a two-stage turbine. Nonetheless, the turbine appears to be very efficient and well built.

I like your rotor, I have built three steam turbines and 'am planning a 4th although the 3rd one works great for over two years now for off grid electricity generation.

nice, it would have been great to see what happens if the new turbine is first and the one is second.

As always, a beautiful job.
Congratulations! Very interesting that the placement of two turbines in series.

Very nice work sir. This steam engine looks and runs great.

zo zie je hoe eenvoudig het is om zelf iets in elkaar te maken
leuk om te zien

Interesting concept to stage the simple turbines; probably practical; especially with steam.

Use some sandpaper and a drill to make the copper pipe shiny ;)
Awsome turbine!

have to ask. have you any data on variable orifices, adjustable position of jets? perhaps some measurements of internal pressure gradients as changes are made ? planetary gear coupling to reduce speed and increase usable power? have you seen the air bearings? a graphene  (sic) porous practically frictionless bearing material? lastly where do you show the fabrication of the different rotors ?

Damn, nice work with making the parts so nicely assembleable I wish I had the means of making something so badass

Ingenious. thanks for the inspiration friend. Question: does this design provide more torque than a tesla turbine? You said it was difficult to stop part way through the clip so I got to wondering. Cheers W

You never stop amazing me, do you sell your turbines or is this just a hobby. Don't think I could make one even with the instructions but id love to own one.
