It's surprising how hard it is to find this simple bit of information. Thanks to you we got our bike running much much better with the new intake on it.

just saw this now. thank you. i just bought my second streetbike after 4yrs and this time i upgraded to a VTX 1300c. i love it. only had it out for a trip around town so far. just gonna tinker with it and get to know it a little. my previous bike was a cmx 500 rebel. big difference.

That air/fuel extension screw is kinda pricey for what you get. I just ordered an after market extension screw, made for Honda dirt bikes ( has the same end on it as the stock VTX screw) and just epoxied one of those flexable screw driver shafts to it. So now it hangs just behind the carb, so you can't see it, but works perfect to adjust eh air/fuel mixture now. I'm frugal and like to save a buck and this mod cost me about $5!

clockwise takes fuel away. counter-clockwise adds fuel.

This is one of the easiest bikes to tune once you get familiar with the carb setup on it. Only having one carb makes it easy. My Shadow has two carbs that need to come out to do any changes on them, and then you have to synchronize them when you're all done. It's time consuming to say the least.

Great video, very instructional. Do you recall if the pipes were original OEM or were they aftermarket? I've been playing with this adjustment for a while, attempting to resolve an occasional backfiring.

Great vid thanks. I put a K&N filter and new housing on my 1300vtx and now its gutless off the line, but still ok at 1/2 to full throttle. Do you think my fuel mix/ pilot screw might need opened a bit?

Wish you kept the camera on your hand and the adjust knob when you were adjusting.

How do I get the bike to idol without the choke open? It always dies when the choke is at about 1/4 open.

Thank you for this information I have a honda Sabre 1300 and this can help. What kind of saddle bags you have, I have been looking for the right ones for my bike and haven't found any.

After I warmed her up I slowly turned the idle knob counterclockwise slowly just to get my idle to slow down a bit and it did but then I noticed when I hit the throttle after that there’s a new tiny lag throttle that wasn’t there before I started messin w the knob. So I turn it clockwise back to where it was originally the entire time listening to it but I think the throttle log is still there now what am I doing wrong here? How do I get rid of that throttle lag should I just keep turning the knob clockwise to bump up the idle until that throttle lag disappears?

Question, i did exactly as you did lowered idle and changed idle mixture screw. My bike idles good at around 2 turns. Question, so i now increase idle to 900rpm and leave idle mixture screw at 2 turns right?
Thanks

I'm assuming the air fuel mix could cause me to need to use all my choke and have a rough running bike on startup? Also it backfires when i am all the way out of the throttle while moving

Thanks for the video. There are either two or three knobs, what do each of them do? I see one on a braided wire, and then two others that just look like knobs. Thank you for your help!

I have slip-on exhaust. If your struggling with a pop when you let off the gas you may have an exhaust gasket leaking where the pipe bolts to the head. Don't over-tighten the mounting bolts of this is the case. Get new gaskets instead.
