First aid procedure Heimlich Maneuver was introduced in 1974 | Today in History

The Heimlich Maneuver, a first aid treatment to choking was first introduced by thoracic surgeon Henry Heimlich in his magazine article on June 1, 1974. In the same date each year, the National Heimlich Maneuver Day is celebrated because of its significant contribution to the field of medicine.
