I'm currently sitting in a restaurant watching a toddler stuff it's mouth with onion rings while the mom and dad are distracted by the football game. I came here just incase I need to move into action. I sure hope not!

My daughter just choked on a peach. I know how to save her because I've had feeding anxiety since switching to solids and I'm just terrified of it. I watch my daughter like a hawk when she eats because she tends to shovel and eat too much so I can only give her a few pieces at a time. Well Ive been getting over the fear because she's slowly started to slow down and take smaller bites. She'll be a year old on the 16th and this is the first time she's choked. (lots of gagging but no REAL choking) I've never moved faster in my life. She didn't have a shirt on (we just did fall pictures and they got messy so I just undressed her and got her ready for lunch) I watched her face start turning red and I felt under her nose to make sure I felt air. I didn't. Right about that time she started smacking her high chair and I yanked her up and it took me so long to get it out. I heard the sound of the peach splat on the floor and then a huge breath and a scream. It felt like ten minutes but it was only a few seconds im sure but i was ready to run out of my house screaming for help in just a tshirt and undies cuz i felt like it just wouldnt come out. I've never been more relieved to hear my daughter screaming. Her back was really red but she was breathing. Thank you for sharing this. I knew what to do because I'd obsessed over her choking for so long that I poured over videos just like this so many times. I was able to save and calm my daughter. Shes just playing with blocks now but had I not seen stuff like this, there's no telling what would be happening now had i not been able to get it out. Im still shaking and trying to bring myself to let her finish her lunch 😭

I witnessed someone lost their child infront of me. It makes me more aware that I need to learn this for future.

Does it have to be a gentle, firm or downright strong blow?

I saw an infant choking and I ran up to help, I told the lady to the baby facing down and she insisted I was wrong. Everyone should learn basic CPR at least.

I’m morbidly curious about the times this video was searched and viewed in an extreme panic.

As someone who had a close call (baby turned blue) I get PTSD at every time I do a CPR training class.

When I was 15 my younger brother, who was 1 year old at the time, almost swallowed a marble. I put my hands in his throat and managed to remove the marble with my fingers. I never told my parents or my brother about this incident, but just the memory still scares me
