Did anyone notice the line “yet he earned all your affections” means Azula believes affection is earned, not given out of love? She also talked a lot about her achievements, then said even tho she has all of those achievements she still cannot have affection, implying she thinks her achievements will give her love. Probably what Osai ingrained in her.

The line "the nation's pride and joy" really shows just how skewed Azula's reality is. He was considered a traitor to the fire nation for about 3 years, and it only stopped AFTER this song took place! 😂

Given ATLA’s real-world inspirations and the broader history of dominant hands, Azula’s teachers would force her to use her right hand, possibly with extreme methods.

A prodigy like Azula, raised with the knowledge that her grandfather and father could snuff out her life for the smallest failure, would quickly adapt to avoid punishment. She would consider it a challenge, and like all challenges, she would rise to it. Becoming ambidextrous would be just one more accomplishment.

Yet her preference for her dominant hand would persist, a constant reminder of her inner self, the real girl beneath the flawless princess forged in her family’s fire. It is everything she silences and represses. Her desire for more, her doubts about the war, her questions, every aspect and quirk that doesn’t serve her father or her nation.

One day, when she gets the chance to grow and heal, that girl will emerge, and Azula will become the incomparable woman she was always meant to be.

And she will write her own story, with her left hand.
