Thank you, I learnt how .odt works and I have fixed my problem eventhough it was different from the one in the video :

My file was opening and then directly closing, without a chance to copy+paste anything or to work on it. I checked my content.xml file but it seemds ok (I verified the xml syntax was ok with Notepad++ module "XML Tool"). So I created another empty .odt file with openoffice writer, and I exchanged the content.xml file with the one from my "corrupted" file because the content seemed ok. And now it works ! I can open it and continue to work.

I'm afraid this won't work for me, as 7-zip says that CRC failed for content.xml... what devastates me is that I've worked on this file for more than a year, to lose it out of a sudden...

Depends on the type of corruption but I've also found that using pandoc works wonders. Still highly recommend creating a copy and only manipulating the copy. Even though it's a document converter you can even just use the same odt format.

And yes pandoc is available in Windows.

Example:

`pandoc document_copy.odt -o document_copy_test.odt`

I've also never seen pandoc lose my formatting but I really don't care as long as I recover the content.

I've never had to deal with the corruption in this particular video but I have had a kind where the document is just blank and I get no errors.

Thank you!
In my case the file was opening but LibreOffice Impress was ALWAYS crashing when arriving at a certain
slide. Entering the .odt file converted in .zip one, I realised by trial and error that I could open the file without problems when deleting the videos in the MEDIA subfolder.
After few hours lost, I managed to solve the problem, than you!

LOVELY!!!
The game changer for me was just fixing the content.xml file. Some online sites offer demo versions of fixed file and payment for full file.
Using just the fixed content.xml from the demo file fixed original file!

When I recovered "Libre Office Writer", some documents weren't how they used to be.

I accidentally saved a word document i was working on in OpenOffice as an XML file. Is there a way I can convert it back to a word document and not have all the programming language, or do I need to just retype my paper?

Great help. However, LibreOffice just froze completly trying to open the file(s!) and did not show any error code.
So, I just renamed the letter.odt into letter.zip, opened it with my Explorer ZIP function. From the content.html I copied-&-pasted the text part into a new LibreOffice document, and by search-&-replace I edited out the <style etc> codes.

Uploading it to Google Drive worked for me. It will be annoying to convert the macros over from Basic to AppScript though.

I tried with 7-Zip but I only got the message "Can not open file". Is there another option for this problem or is the file lost?
