Looking for a new rifle, the 7mm Prc or the 7mm Rem Mag ? What brand ?Lots of hype and marketing going on pushing the PRC line. Will the Prc line suffer the same fate a the WSM ? #whitetaildeerhunting #thehuntingpublic #huntingequipment #publiclandwhitetails #publiclandhunting #hunting #thehuntingpublic

Looks like the new 7mm backcountry is going to beat both in a smaller shorter lighter rifle with more mag capacity. If buying new there's no reason not to try it out.

bought a savage 110 trail hunter in 7mm rem mag, absolute tac driver and love it. except the weight way to heavy. sold it and bought a howa 1500 in 7mm prc

I love my Tikka, but if you get a 7 mag buy the more expensive one with threaded barrel. A Tikka has more recoil than most. I have Savage 110 Timberline in 3006 it is very accurate, but the action is not nearly as smooth as the Tikka. I would personally recommend a Tikka Roughtech or Alpine. They are priced similar to the Savage 110. I vote 7 Rem Mag.

If I was going for horsepower and long range in a 7 I’d go with the 28 nosler however it’s proprietary to them where the 7 rem mag is all over the place. Tikka would definitely be my choice or a sako

7 rem mag, hunted with Browning A bolt for years with this round, took quite a few deer with it, grouped tight and cosistant, never let me down, however my yearning for a 300 mag caused me to sell it and purchase a browning xbolt 300wsm 2 years ago, absolutely love this rifle also, at 66 yo probubly be my last, anyhow i cant say about prc, i know nothing about it, but i know you wont go wrong with 7 rem mag

Friends don’t let friends buy Savages. Buy tikka you will be happier.

Browning is now making rifles with a 1&8 twist in 7mm rem mag. This means you can shoot the large 195 grain bullets. Browning would be wise to put out for that specific twist rate. I have a Weatherby that stabilizes up to 175s.

The tikka and browning are so far beyond the lacking quality of savage offerings it isn’t even close.

I'd go with the Rem-mag.but then I'm still hunting with a 7x57mm

Either is a lot of gun for the woods. I’d honestly go with a 270 or 280AI

Ok? You are buying a 7mm Rem mag for eastern woods whitetail hunting, I'm sorry but I really don't understand this. A cartridge designed for hunting elk at distance with comparable performance to a 300 win mag with less recoil. It's a western hunting round for long barrelled rifles and high mag scopes. A Browning BAR in a short action, like a .308, is perfect for what you are doing. I'm out in Saskatchewan and shoot a 7mmRM for everything, elk, moose, deer, bear. It's a great do everything round but as a specific whitetail round, no, it's too much gun, way too much gun. I hunt over bait for whitetail...at 250 yards.

Not big fan of the prc's don't think it's going to do better than are other calibers

Fk grandpa's belted cartridge, go PRC, but load development may be more work... but once you find your projectile/powder/load it is done for life of barrel, which hunting and your age...let's call for life.
