Boeing's new focus on cutting costs by any means necessary instead of solid engineering has resulted in it becoming a problem to itself and the US.

2:00 "Segregated and pending disposition" is standard aerospace quality control language for hardware which is suspected of having a manufacturing defect and therefore has been pulled out of normal production (segregated), so that it can be further evaluated by engineering to verify or refute the suspected defect and to determine what should be done about a defect if verified (dispositioned). Possible dispositions include repair, rework, use as-is, or scrap.

I spent 20+ years as a Test Engineer at a company that supplies space-qualified components whose failure would be catastrophic. This is inexcusable.

I weld for a living. Welding is easy to start to learn and once you have enough experiance, it can look easy. However, there is this huge middle area that almost made me quit welding and nothing I was welding was even going into space.

Once upon a time, when Boeing actually produced quality goods, they had all work done 'in house' by Boeing trained workers. Today everything is some sub-contractor who has no responsibility and gets paid twice. First time to do the job, Second time to fix what they made. This is a total abject management failure merely to enrich the CEO and Board of Directors.

NASA should immediately stop all projects Boeing is involved with. In the short term, this will cause a lot of problems, but in the long term it will solve all problems and save the US taxpayer billions.
