in boot camp in 66 in San Diego, running out of mess hall, I accidentally bumped into senior drill instructor, gysgy mueller.when we got back to barracks, quonset huts, I had to stand on platoon street for 2 hours hollering "by your leave sir" before going to rifle range at Pendleton.

I had a drill instructor that was a lot shorter than me and I accidentally bumped into because I didn’t see him. He grabbed me by the throat, choked me and yelled at me.

Damn this gave me flashbacks. Comin back from pt, they told us to get online. I dead sprinted to my rack lookin down for a sec and literally crashed into my DI. Like running into a wall. I looked at him shocked and was thinking to myself damn he’s about to end my life. He screamed watch where tf im going and get tf online. I was later called into the duty hut where my DI’s was. Me thinking I was in trouble from earlier, they broke news to me that my gramps just passed. Going thru all that I already knew my gramps had stage 4 cancer. They checked on me from time to time. My CO pulled me off to the side during pt and listened to what I had to say. Told them I wasnt quitting, pushing thru, staying motivated(so i dont get recycled lol). It just goes to show that these people werent complete monsters. Semper Fi Marines!
