If the switch doesn't resolve your issue, check your heating element, look for any signs of breaks or cracks.

Also, I believe it's important to prevent the root cause to keep from having to replace this sensor every so often. We were, for the longest time, using the good dishwashing detergent. We ran upon hard times and ended up using the cheapest stuff we could find. After 2 months, it wasn't cutting the grease we were putting through the dishwasher and it backed up the sensor. I tried to clean it but nothing but replacing it helped.

Do yourself a favor and use good products in your dishwasher. Below are the links to products we use in our home. Try to clean your dishwasher at least once a month with the Allfresh dishwasher cleaner packs. The Cascade helps to break down all of the grease on plates. Give it a try and let me know what you think in the comments section below.

Dude! You are a life saver! Found the part on Amazon for like $15, saved me tons of money and time! And got me bonus points with my wife! You’re the man!

This tutorial save me hundreds if not a thousand dollars. I would have wanted to call for a repair but would have opted to buy a new one instead. Ordered the float control and a magnetic screwdriver. $40 and fifteen minutes and we have blazing hot dishwasher again. Many thanks!

I replaced the heating element because I "assumed" it was out. It won't heat dry or heat the water. This video kept me from getting so pissed off about just buying a new dishwasher. THANK YOU! I just ordered the part today. I'll see what happens.

Right on the money. I just replaced the float switch for $35 on Amazon. I also purchased a long neck, flexible, magnetic tip screw retrieval tool for $10 and a long handled 1/4" nut driver . The repair literally took 3 minutes.
We got steam and heat again! Thanks so much for this.

We were having the same problems with our GE dishwasher. We are older and couldn't maneuver to fix it our selves so we called a repairman. I told him about your video but he insisted he knew what was wrong and installed a new master board (?). It didn't work. He came back and decided it was exactly what I told him! He is ordering the part now!

I had a warranty service call on the dishwasher just like this one and the technician replaced the board and the element with no improvement. I decided to Google "GE dishwasher not drying dishes" and your video came up. I forwarded it to the service technician, he ordered the part and that fixed it. His troubleshooting guide did not have this part failure as an issue for repairing this problem. He had also never replaced one of these before. He was about condemn this dishwasher as unrepairable so that the warranty company would replace it. Thanks to my finding your video, there will be one less "repairable" dishwasher in the landfill! Just wish I had searched Google before putting in a call to the warranty company. I would have saved about $40. Thanks for publishing this video.

Thanks for the video. Found the part on Amazon for $15. The install was easy and the dishwasher is now drying again. Affordable fix to add some life to an 8 year old GE.

Add me to the list of people. Tried replacing the heating element. Still didn't work. Did some searching, came across this and ordered the same part of amazon, instantly fixed. Thanks so much! As a note, my GE is a completely different model but looks the same and uses that same part. It still worked.

Came back here to thank you! No idea how you figured out the flood switch was the problem, but thanks for sharing. Replaced mines and it's working good as new again :)

Not sure if you're tired of hearing this but you saved me! I know nothing about repairs and this fixed my problem. My dishwasher is only 5 yrs old and stopped heating. After this repair, it is heating great and my dishes are actually cleaner than they've been in a very long time. The hardest part of this repair (for me) was figuring out what kind of screwdriver to use because, again, this is all completely unfamiliar territory. I had to take a photo of the screw to the hardware store and they told me what to get; it ended up being a nut driver. Thank you for this video!

As with many of the other comments, this absolutely worked. I have a GE dishwasher and the Heated Dry stopped working. It was very simple to swap out the float valve, and now it works like a charm. Thanks so much for sharing this with us!

Thank you so much for your video. I was getting ready to pull our dishwasher out from under the counter to test the continuity of the heating element. I found your video, and decided to first replace the flood sensor $21.95 shipped from Amazon. Amazingly, all is working perfectly now, heating water in boost mode, and back to drying as well. Sincere thanks for the advice, and how to video.

My husband thought it was the heating coil also. Thanks to your video this did the trick!

Flood sensor switch was the problem, after replacing the heat element. Thank you so much. Great tip and instructions. Easy fix. Would recommend folks try this first before replacing the heating element. It is easier to replace and takes less time, and based on the gunk that builds up, most likely the problem.

Thank you very much, I watched this video because I have the same dishwasher as you and had the same problem. I knew it was probably not the heating element because it does not make sense that they just go bad. That only thing that made sense for it not to work is that flood switch. Thank you for the tip of using a magnetic bit because it saved me a lot of work when I replaced it. Again, Thank you very much.
