Anna, yesterday I went out to socialize in a group setting for the first time in forever after years of completely isolating myself and shutting myself off from the world. I just wanted to share because I realized I had C-PTSD last spring and your videos have been and continue to be a great part of that journey. I mean it 100% that I wouldn’t have been able to do what I did yesterday, and even have fun with little to no anxiety afterwards, if it weren’t for finding this channel. I’m still a little in shock over being able to feel not only so okay but even good about being alive as I am right now. Thank you for being the kind bright light that you are, and to anyone reading this who might fear they’ll always be “stuck”, please know there is so much hope for us all ❤❤❤

Since the pandemic, depression hangs over me like a cloud. I try to take each day as it comes, but it's not always easy. Sending everyone a big bear hug 💌

I put a quater in a small clear glass each time I do a thing for one hour. I have a cup for work around the house ( that I don't like doing like washing dishes), a cup for taking care of me ( nice movie, bath, massage) and a cup for work. I love placing those quaters in the cups and it keeps me going and keeps me organized. I end up with 12 quaters in the 3 glasses per day in average and accomplish so much this way. I created this technique. Keeps me going and keeps me satisfied. I enjoy counting my quaters at the end of the day, placing them back in the large pot and the next day, I restart my 3 glass routine 🙂. The sound of the coins, the encouragement of writing what I did for that specific quater on a page placed under each cup, the visual of the stacked coins all combined does something to my brain that likes this and becomes more regulated. This video is a quater in my self care cup for example.

Recommended your videos to someone struggling and suicidal. Therapy is triggering him big time. He's dealing with family alcoholism and sex abuse by his mom .
I'm praying he checks you out . Your work is a true lifeline for so many of us .
Thank you .

Being tired is a trigger for me because part of my CPTSD involved intense sleep disturbances and chronic fatigue. Meditation helps a lot because it helps me with relaxation!

I can attest to this..up at 530 mon-fri, and I work out at least 20-40 minutes. I run in the Summer months when the sun is up, and bought a treadmill for the winter months. I give myself plenty of time to have my coffee and get ready for work. That way I'm not rushing out the door. This has helped tremendously with my mood. It really makes my day better. Some days are harder to get out of bed, but I find once I start moving my body my endorphins dramatically increase. I stopped taking meds about 3 years ago, and I can't reccomend enough the importance of exercise and a daily routine.

Thank you Anna…last night was hard. I was in a really dark place and blaming myself. This morning after listening to this I’m giving myself grace. I was severely traumatized as a child and an adult. I blame myself for EVERYTHING which leads to depression. This will help. ❤

11:18 #6 explains why I struggled with line dancing at country western clubs in the 80s, my entire extended family was never involved in sports (due to poor eye/hand coordination), and I'm the 4th known generation to have enlarged cerebellum (brain structure responsible for balance). WOW!

Great tips. For me it’s almost always step 10.. I’m avoiding/procrastinating something I don’t want to deal with so I meander around feeling like 💩 about myself.

I’m a nurse and do shift work which puts you allover lover the place. Sometimes I wake up at 530am and it’s great. Other times I can’t sleep till 2am in the morning which makes it very difficult to get up early

I’m writing poems. This help me stop today

“Friend from the early 70’s

A name keeps swimming around in my head
Spider webs
Dusty boxes
Cluttered storage
It will be fun to reconnect.
It’s a friend from the early 70’s
Only a first name at first
Relax I reassured me
Last name will emerge.
recall pops up
last name.
Uncovering golden ticket
Search out all online hotline info to forage like a sleuth on her game.
Delight and joy I found my lost friends
phone number
What a great day.
Waiting til the very next morn
Making this happen
Anticipation as the phone rings
A voice answers, hesitant
Kathleen this is Kim from long ago
My voice excitedly sings.
She questions kim Kim let’s see
Kim, the Kim who dated my brother was the reply on the other end
No how are, no how great to hear from you!
Just confusion to who I am.
I felt disappointment run throughout me
Our relationship was pals not an acquaintance from dating a sibling man.
Her husband also a friend
or so I thought
but wrong
Kept telling her
hang up
Get off the phone.
No hello,
He’s impatient
Got to go
Silence
As she hung up as I sat all alone.
This is only a problem from remnants of lifelong abuse
A normal cherished child would
Drop the event, nothing gained nothing lost.
I write this event to right a wrong that attacks my brain
Old familiar self flagellation is the name of this game.
triggers
I’m wrong
I’m rude
I’m easily forgotten
Dismissed.
It’s my go to abused child
Believing everyone else has rights to breathe
I’m an unwelcome foreigner to this life, you see.
I apologize in a text
How rude interrupting their day
Thoughts, nice gesture,
look up old friends from way back in the day.
Obviously only an acquaintance
Knowing so many Kim’s
Which one was me?
My call was a foolish whim.
No shut up
old behavior
You’ve done nothing wrong
Stop that old beat me up
tired old song
You’re caring
You’re sincere
You’re significant
You are strong
You’ve created a bubble of new friends in your life
Friends born out of healing
Friends who see you
Who encourage your growth
From the past ghosts that crushed your heart and left you a mentally crippled piece of brittle toast.
That’s the old life
You made a new oath
To honor and respect the child within
So your adult self has the right to this earth’s residence.
To look up so called friends
made when raw and broken
Is a wound breaking scab
Leave them
continue self protect
This is your time like a Phoenix to rise.
Rejoice to your healed you
Gratitude to your true loved ones
Moving forward
Embracing talents once buried
emerging
You’d cleared out the clutter
You’ve thrown out the old
What serves you not
This is your life now
The ghosts lost control. “

After years of therapy I decided to recapitulate everything that I had learned. I literally shut the drapes and reviewed my progress for multiple months. Similar to your self examination vids, I had to address my own stagnation.
I have a better understanding of my own development from childhood, young adulthood, and subsequent adult.
Being that selfish (in a healthy way) has led to the quieting of my own mind. I am more at peace than I ever was prior to watching your vids.

This list is wholesome, helpful & free. I have been implementing these techniques for many years as a "medicine" for severe depression. I'll be doing great for months at a time & then NOT. The difficulty I face is slipping into depression, knowing that practicing any of the techniques will help, yet I feel too far gone & I simply can't. I get overwhelmed & stuck.

I like the word “here” as a mantra for the meditation for daily practice. It’s simple & reminds me to come back & be present.

Number 6 for me is yoga. Either beach yoga, or any yoga online that gives directions, left right etc.. square dance is super helpful too. Thanks so much.

Thank you! All of those are very valuable tips. I’ve found that walking on uneven grass or dirt trails is a huge help to my mind and body. I was so glad to hear you talk about that and to have my experience affirmed. I also found that just watching this video helped; watching your smile, hearing your calm voice and learning of your own experiences. It’s so nice to know that we’re not alone and that there is a practical, non drug-related path to feeling better and healing.
